Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)
Cadillac Escalade sales during the second quarter of 2023 kept the full-size luxury SUV in full command of its segment when ranked by sales volume, as it has for over a dozen years now since we started tracking Escalade sales. The Infiniti QX80 took fourth with a 63 percent jump to 2,947 units. Finally, the Lexus LX finished last with a 51 percent swell to 1,874 units.

Below, we’ve included sales figures of full-size luxury crossovers for the sake of reference. Though they differ mechanically from the aforementioned body-on-frame SUVs by utilizing a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered as alternatives to the regular-length full-size luxury SUVs. Currently, the only full-size luxury crossovers are the BMW X7, the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and Land Rover Range Rover. Audi is rumored to be working on a future Q9 that would slot into this space. Notably, the Escalade alone outsells each of them individually, and the Escalade duo makes up around 65 percent of combined sales of these models.

The GM Authority Take
Cadillac Escalade sales during during the second quarter of 2023 made it the only luxury full-size SUV family to gain segment share, commanding nearly half of all sales in this highly lucrative space.
Going forward, we expect Escalade sales to continue at roughly similar levels, so long as production and availability all remain unaffected. However, it’s increasingly looking like this will not be the case, as the UAW is currently working on an expired contract at the Arlington plant where the Escalade is built.
About Cadillac Escalade
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade introduces the third model year for the latest fifth-generation luxury SUV, debuting a variety of important changes and updates. The biggest is the introduction of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, a new high-performance variant that boasts the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the same updated GM 10-speed automatic transmission and fed to a four-wheel drive system, yielding a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Upgraded brakes and Magnetic Ride Control suspension with special tuning help to keep it all under control.
The 2023 Escalade also adds a new Surround Vision Recorder system, standard on all trim levels, plus expanded driving coverage for GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance feature, and return of the Brembo Performance Brake Package.
While the 2024 Cadillac Escalade was originally expected to introduce a mid-cycle enhancement for both SUVs, GM Authority has learned that the refresh has been delayed to the 2025 model year. According to GM Authority sources, in addition to exterior styling revisions, the refreshed Escalade will feature a full-width, pillar-to-pillar infotainment display panel similar to that of the Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan.
However, the 2024 Cadillac Escalade gets standard Super Cruise on most trim levels, and the 2024 Escalade-V will get 20th Anniversary features to celebrate two decades of the Cadillac V-Series sub-brand.
GM recently debuted the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, the first-ever all-electric model to bear the Escalade moniker. Highlights of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ include new styling, a tech-heavy feature list, 55-inch infotainment screen, and 450 miles of range with 750 horsepower on tap. Production is slated to kick off in 2024.
While Cadillac’s full-size SUV ICE-powered Escalade family continues to dominate its segment year after year, even outselling cross-shopped full-size crossovers, it’ll be interesting to see how things shake out when the all-electric Escalade IQ hits the market.

They will kiss this dominance goodbye when they try to supplant the original with the Escaladick (?) EV or whatever it’s called.
Let’s be honest here. They have no competition. They are comparing to what… grand wagoneer?? thats smaller and you get to interact with wrangler dealers. cadillac has its own after sales experience. further it’s not body on frame. no need to go over the rest of the alleged competitors.
. there is nothing to compete with here. you want big bof luxo boat, you get an escalade. clear as day.
“further it’s not body on frame. no need to go over the rest of the alleged competitors.”
What do you mean? All of the models listed in the direct segment (Escalade, Navigator, Grand Wagoneer, QX80, LX) are body on frame.
I think the Navigator and Grand Wagoneer are actually quite capable contenders here. The new LX also delivers an attractive selling proposition. Next-gen QX80 is promising to be more competitive, too…
shocked face emoji.
jeep stopped making frames with the XJ no? WJ onward line was all unibody. that would be very embarrassing if the wagoneer slipped by me with an actual frame. if im wrong im wrong. ill eat the correction.
I think you might want to re-educate yourself that grand wagonner is same size as caddilac , is body on frame also . The new grand wagonner L is also .6 inches shorter than a esv but has more interior volume . The in-line twin turbo motor has 510 hp and 500 torque and beats the Chevy 6.2 in fuel numbers . So before posting get the facts , just saying . Still waiting to see new Chevy small block v8 specs also . New electric caddy is a disaster in my books , Buying a full size 3 row suv for size in itself . The series 3 GW also has a superior transfer case and off road manners currently than anything chev , gm or caddilac has currently .
To be fair, the Escalade would not exist or thought of without competition. You are aware that the Navigator, LX and Range Rover been around longer right?
Also, it appears you don’t like anything in this segment but the Cadillac based on what I observed from your post.
