The GM Authority Take
U.S. Chevrolet sales posted a strong increase on a year-over-year basis. Sales of the Bolt family, consisting of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Bolt EUV, jumped over 445 percent to 13,595 units. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Trax posted the second highest percentage increase, growing 114 percent to 20,921 units, due to the recent launch and the arrival of more units of the next-gen subcompact crossover.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer, which stands as the Bow Tie’s second subcompact crossover, posted a 112 percent growth to 33,847 units. Among the most surprising increases was the Chevrolet Camaro, which saw a significant 110 percent increase to 9,557 units. This was likely the result of the impending discontinuation of the iconic muscle car.
As for some notable decreases, the Chevrolet Silverado lineup experienced a drop of 1.2 percent to 141,299 units. That, however, didn’t stop the nameplate from remaining by far the most popular Bow Tie vehicle. Meanwhile, sales of the Chevrolet Colorado fell more than 11 percent to 19,909 units as the all-new, 2023 model continues its rollout and the all-new model is not yet readily available.

Bolt had the highest increase of 445.06 percent to 13,959 units. But its production ends on 2023-11-07. It will not impact overall GM sales, however it will reduce GMs EV sales drastically.
So GM will come out with a more modern Bolt based on the more modern Ultium battery technology…Which will probably have more EV range, be better looking, and cost about the same as it will slot under the Equinox EV… which I would rather have anyway. Let’s see what the future holds before we get all pessimistic! Remember everyone said Tesla won’t build the cyber truck…. Now their building it!
Chevy Man: I’m not reading that in this article. Can you post a source of that info? I’d love for them to continue the Bolt (more as a smaller hatch/sedan rather than another CUV). I know there was an article a month ago about Bara “hinting” at a new Bolt, but I don’t trust GM on this stuff. Thanks.
Malibu is doing quite well for a segment Ford, Chrysler and Mazda have left for dead coming in #3 non truck. Some sales are probably fleet but, nonetheless, a 9 year old design language is not harming Malibu and it must be a cash cow.
I like the car. Nicer looking than Camry and less expensive than Accord.
I wish my new Malibu was an Impala.
That’s because the Malibu is not an EV… EV customers like new technology and they also like things up to date . And if GM did redo the Malibu like everyone wants it would go up in price I mean they have at least been updating over the last nine years. Dan B I read many of your negative comments on here I choose not to respond mostly about your hatred for giant screens in cars I agree on that one but your pessimistic view on everything GM comes out with or says they will come out is disturbing why would they totally forget about the BOLT which makes them money when they can redesign it on the Ultium BEV3 platform which is better then the current bolt!? That’s my view feel free to disagree
So Chevy Man, you don’t like if others have an opinion? Not sure I follow you. I simply asked you if there was a source you could post to give us information you may have. I certainly don’t see anything negative about that. I would truly like to have more info on any new Bolt coming out as you seem to speak like it’s a fact.
I’m an EV driver. I had one in 2015. I had a PHEV in 2021. I now have a 2023 Bolt EV. Saying that (all) EV customers like new tech in not really true. I find it difficult to believe that many Bolt owners feel their cars are not techy enough. On top of that, I find my Bolt (base 1LT with several option packages) to be just as advanced in the field of tech as many other vehicles on sale today. It would be a very safe thing to say that many EV owners are also quite frugal. Thus GM making a new Bolt even more advanced would only drive the price up. Myself and many others will take a lower price over higher tech any day of the week. A perfect example of this will be the Equinox EV. You will never see one priced at the 30 grand in reality and most will be around 40 grand or higher. For what? Some “better” tech that I don’t need and most won’t use? Forget that it’s a CUV. Just because of the price I would be out as I’m sure many other will also be out.
