The GM Authority Take
Though Cadillac XT6 sales outpaced the segment average during the first quarter of 2024, the model still finds itself essentially in last place in the segment, trailing the best-selling Mercedes, BMW and Lexus by a substantial margin. We say that because the XT6 outsold three models during the quarter, but that’s not as big of an accomplishment as it would seem. Outselling the Lexus TX, which is on stop sale, could easily be done simply by selling a single unit, while the two models that the XT6 really did outsell – the BMW X6 and Audi Q8 – are specialty vehicles that are “coupe” variants of their core models – the X5 and Q7, respectively. To add insult to injury, the XT6 is now trailing the Lincoln Aviator and was even outsold by its corporate cousin, the Buick Enclave, in spite of the Buick going through a generational changeover.
Looking ahead, things won’t get any easier for Cadillac any time soon in this space. While Enclave sales volume should recover during the first quarter of 2025, Toyota Motor Company will resolve the issue that caused the production stoppage and associated stop-sale of the Lexus TX. When this takes place, we fully expect the TX to return to a top five placement in the segment.

The 2025 Cadillac XT6 arrives with a few small changes and updates over the preceding 2024 model year.
While the updated 2025 Cadillac XT6 officially debuted in China, nothing has been announced for the North American XT6. With minimal changes for the XT6, the writing seems to be on the wall for the model’s future in the North American market.
Meanwhile, GM recently debuted the first-ever, all-electric 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, adding a fresh three-row crossover to the luxury marque’s growing EV portfolio. Sources tell us that the Vistiq will eventually replace the XT6. Highlights of the Cadillac Vistiq include a 33-inch infotainment screen, standard Super Cruise, and a 0-to-60-mph time under four seconds.

Yet another “hit’ from the former “Standard of the World”
Just letting this model die on the vine will never make sense to me.
Just another “station wagon”.
It is amazing that General Motors, will probably make the XT6 end by 2026 model year. It happens to be a great car, perfect size, comfortable but they are changing to all electric cars. Why I don’t know. I wish that they were smart and still kept gas powered cars or at least hybrid. I have a 2023 XT6, It is a fantastic car. But GM apparently doesn’t realize that a lot of there customers don’t want t a car with batteries, that takes at least an hour to fill up. I have been a GM customer for many years, but this will probably be there downfall.
With a moderate level of capital commitment for some product upgrades some marketing dollars this vehicle could actually become quite competitive in the segment. Alas, Cadillac continues to be committed to an all EV too soon making this product a low effort dead-ender.
They are singleminded and refuse to listen to what the market is saying.
…AND some marketing dollars…
Tragically the trade in value is toilet worthy.
Wife had a 2024 loaded. Msrp over $70k and 1 year later was given $40k on trade in for a new tahoe. (Msrp $90k). Shopped several dealers and checked kbb. $35k loss in 1 year????
Never again….. excuse given was rental companies just dumped return cars on the market….
They didn’t dump high end ones with super cruise and every other option so I call bulls**it.
Don’t buy this car…..
