The GM Authority Take

Despite being the second best-selling automobile brand in Colombia during the month, Chevy sales have been trending downward over the last few months. This includes April, when the Bow Tie brand experienced a substantial drop of over 2,000 units compared to the same month in 2022. This performance represent Chevrolet’s sixth consecutive monthly decline in the Colombian market, which it led for a couple of years and in which it is now fighting to stay in second place.

The drastic decrease in Chevrolet Colombia sales in April comes as most of the brand’s models offered in the country were in the red. The Chevy Onix once again led the downward spiral, posting a huge reduction in year-over-year volume of 1,806 units. In addition, the reduction in volume seen by N-Series trucks as well as the Chevy Colorado was also significant, cutting a further 252 units from the bottom line.

By contrast, several Chevy utility vehicles were in the green during April in Colombia. Among them was the Chevrolet Equinox, which saw the brand’s highest growth rate during the month, as well as the Chevy Tracker, which saw a 130 percent improvement. The subcompact crossover was able to support this volume improvement thanks to the GM Alvear plant in Argentina now supplying the Colombian market.
