2023 Cadillac Escalade Sees Return Of Brembo Performance Brake Package

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade is the third model year for the fifth-generation SUV, introducing a handful of changes and updates compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Now, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade is once again offered with the Brembo Performance Brake package.

Officially called the Front 6-Piston Brembo Brake Upgrade with Color Matched Rear Calipers, this kit is tagged with RPO code 5JL, and is available as an LPO-level option, meaning it is installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced. The upgrade includes the following content:

  • Front six-piston Brembo brake calipers
  • Red calipers on front and rear
  • Front 16.1-inch by 1.3-inch Duralife rotors
  • Cadillac script logo on front calipers

This brake upgrade is now available for all trim levels of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade and 2023 Cadillac Escalade ESV, with the exception of the Cadillac Escalade-V and Cadillac Escalade-V ESV. Pricing is set at $3,495.

Notably, the Front 6-Piston Brembo Brake Upgrade with Color Matched Rear Calipers was also  available for previous model years of the Cadillac Escalade SUV. However, the package disappeared at the beginning of the 2023 model year, but is now once again available. A similar situation applies to the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, plus the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, and 2023 Chevy Suburban, all of which once again offer the Brembo performance upgrade.

As a reminder, non-V variants of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade are available with a pair of engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Under the body panels, the Cadillac Escalade rides on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. Having owned a 2020 Yukon with 22’s and noticed the poor braking performance of the OEM GM brakes, I quickly decided to cough up the cash for the aftermarket Brembos and had my Dealer install them. What a HUGE difference ! Any GM vehicle with 22’s or maybe even 20’s should be required to be equipped with the Brembo brakes or GM should upgrade their OEM brakes to 6 piston calipers combined with the larger rotors. The OEM brakes are meant for 18’s and when you go to +4’s the brake upgrade should be included with the 22’s.
