The 2025 Cadillac XT6 represents the sixth model year of the first-generation three-row, midsize luxury crossover SUV, receiving three (count ’em!) relatively small changes. Here’s exactly what’s new and different about the 2025 XT6.
Model Line
No changes take place to the model line, with the 2025 model continuing to be offered in the following three trim levels:
- Luxury
- Premium Luxury
- Sport
Exterior
Similarly, no changes take place to the exterior, with the 2025 Cadillac XT6 continuing to be offered in seven exterior color options and seven wheel choices.
Interior
Inside, the only change to to the 2025 Cadillac XT6 is the deletion of the Dark Auburn with Jet Black Accents (HTW) interior colorway.
For the 2024 model year, this colorway was offered on the Premium Luxury trim with Leather Seating Surfaces and Mini-Perforated Inserts, plus Black Olive Ash wood trim with Ombre finish.
Mechanical
The 2025 Cadillac XT6 doesn’t see any mechanical changes. That means that it continues with the same two gasoline engine options. The base engine is the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 LSY while the up-level engine is the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX.
The turbo four is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque while the atmospheric six makes 310 horses and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to GM’s nine-speed transmission, with front-wheel-drive standard and all-wheel-drive optional across the board.
Packages
The 2025 Cadillac XT6 sees one package level change – the inclusion of Super Cruise (UKL) and Night Vision (UV3) as standard in the Platinum Package (RPO code JSE).
For the 2024 model year, Super Cruise was a standalone option available on Premium Luxury and Sport trims that also required Technology Package (Y4N), regardless of whether the Platinum Package was selected or not. Similarly, Night Vision required the Platinum Package, along with the Technology Package (Y4N) and Driver Assist Package (Y66), regardless of whether the Platinum Package was selected or not for the 2024 model year.
Note that the Platinum Package (JSE) is available only on Premium Luxury or Sport trims and is not available on the base Luxury trim.
Chronology
The Cadillac XT6 launched for the 2020 model year (see more about the 2020 XT6) and has received minor changes for the 2021 XT6, 2022 XT6, 2023 XT6 and 2024 XT6.
Looking ahead, things are not looking good for the XT6. A refresh expected for the 2024 model year seems to have been canned. Instead, GM gave the Chinese model a handful of relatively minor updates headlined by a larger infotainment screen and improved second row captain’s chairs. Even this update is not expected to make it to North America. Instead, the upcoming Cadillac Vistiq will likely replace the XT6 in its entirety.

Comments
I drove by one today and thought “don’t see many of those”. And that’s about all that needs to be said about that.
I had a 2022 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury. After just 5 months I sold it. I have never disliked a car more!
Im curious why
A tiny turbo 4 in an 3 row heavy suv? The larger turbo 4 in the other three (Enclave Acadia Traverse) is already unrefined and loud and high reving despite it being more powerful than this little engine
Funny, the Europeans and the Chinese have absolutely no issue with having a turbocharged four cylinder in vehicles that are in the XT6’s space, like the X5, Q7, GLE-Class. They buy them by the boatload. In fact, the base GLE Class even has a turbo four in the US as standard, and it’s one of the best-selling models in the space.
Different market, different road networks. Both those markets are also satisfied with micro cars and mopeds. Sorry but comparing the two are not the same. GM needs the 2.5T in this and a hybrid option
Absolutely irrelevant, given that most luxury vehicles sold in the U.S. today feature a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine and they do just fine.
Why go 2.5T when you can simply go to the 3.6 LGX? Ask owners of the last-gen Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave: most would prefer the 3.6L used in the last-gens over the 2.5T used in the new models. Just see the results for yourself:

lol Alex Alex Alex, go look at the competition: X5, GLE, GV80. Base engine, mid tier, performance, hybrid. Then let’s look at the sales figures.
XT6 was a fine crossover 5 years ago, problem is it debuted 5 years ago and the field moved on.
But hey, you took over GMA, you can say as you will. Wrong, stubborn, or otherwise.
Lol Alex I skimmed those comments, most those folks had no experience with the 2.5 and were just speculating and blindly bashing it in the same way the V8 crowd did when Ford rolled out the eco boost in the F150, look at the take rate now on Ecoboost engines.
In fact there were a fair number of 2.7T owners in that thread singing its praises.
Seriously?! I’m here telling you that this powertrain sucks!Every Cadillac you sell here are f**king slow!!It’s the worst engine here whatever you compared with, that’s why GM sales volume shrunk so much in China and for god sake you don’t even know why!!!!
We Chinese won’t buy a Cadillac that 0-60mph takes 8-10 seconds, even BYD is faster than you! Shame on you! GM!
Three things you can rest assured of. Paper thin sheet metal. Cheap plastic chrome and other bits.
Zero street presence.
Standard of the World?
So GM’s most luxurious midsize crossover, is the only one that I can get the NA 3.6L in, and overcharge for it, because it’s a supposed Cadillac? What a shame……such a great motor, and it will be missed in the Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave
Great motor? It was a car based motor that needed to rev to make any power. It downshifts at the slightest hill or headwind and had no torque down low. It wasn’t a great motor and I along with many are glad it is gone in big heavy vehicles like the Traverse trio and Mid size trucks as it doesn’t belong there. For having a name Sierra you should know you want torque in heavy vehicles and you want it down low, which is exactly where the 2.7 and 2.5 put it. If you have that, it doesn’t need to rev except in full throttle scenarios, which lets be honest, is .02% of the time you drive. So not sure what all the hate it, these motors outshine the prior motors in all areas except 1, engine noise. But because they dropped two cylinders and replaced them with a hair dryer all of a sudden it was a bad move. Go figure uneducated car folk would complain about something they know nothing about…
@TMI
Yet, again, spouting off nonsense. Only thing I agree with you is the engine noise and hair dryer comment, because that’s what the new 2.5L sounds like and it is underperforming tremendously!!! keep up the nonsense though…..quite comical
“Underperforming tremendously”?? In what way is the 2.5L “Underperforming tremendously”? Too much power for you? Too much torque for you? Selling too well?
@Grand Prix GTP
It doesn’t get the MPGs, accelerate like it should with the claimed HP/TQ advantage over the 3.6L, and even sounds like trash when you get on it. I test drove one and was so unimpressed. Also, neighbor has new Acadia and my 21 Traverse Redline gets 2-3 mpgs better. You do realize that the 3.6L in all 3 models (Avadia/Traverse/Enclave) get excellent mpgs. My Traverse on long trips averages in the low 26 mgs ranging around 72 mph. My mothers 18 Enclave averages 27. She always get an MPG better their our Traverse. She just took it over 100k miles and only issue was with 9 speed tranny at first. Did flush in it and it been flawless. My Traverse has 66k miles and its been perfect. So, yes, we are both on our 3rd vehicle with a 3.6L and they all have been solid!
I have a 2024 XT6 Luxury Premium with the Platinum Package and I love it. It drives beautifully, it’s comfortable, it looks great and it’s a great size. In my opinion, it’s one of the nest looking SUVs on the market. I love the clean straight lines.
Could not agree more Frank!
I meant best looking, sorry about the type-o
“Receiving three (count ’em!) relatively small changes”? I counted ’em and could only find 2 changes mentioned in the article. Perhaps the author needs to count them again!
1. Interior colorway deletion
2. Change in availability in Super Cruise / Platinum
3. Change in availability of Night Vision
Still waiting for them to activate 900$ Optional. Adaptive Driving Beam, or ADB. It is a progression of automatic high-beam headlights. (Option only on models with the Platinum Package).
GM wasted billions on Cruise and Cadillac got the XT models that couldn’t get out of their own way to be loaners and rental queens.
They prematurely scrapped the ct6 and stopped caring about the XT6 at all. There were rumors they were going to put a ttV6 or V8 in it but never happened.
I have a 24 premium model luv it my second xt6 will trade on a 25 in March quality is 5 star had new caddilacs since 1965
GM ADD A FREAKING ICE OPTION AND HYBRID TO THE VISTIQ! STOP FORCING EVS! Can’t road trip with only 300 miles of range!
