The GM Authority Take
Following 11 consecutive months of gains, Chevrolet Argentina sales saw a notable decrease in April. This setback interrupts the Bow Tie brand’s positive performance in the Argentine market, which was achieved by a constant improvement in the production volume and inventory levels of locally manufactured vehicles.
April’s decline was led primarily by lower sales of the Chevy Cruze, which suffered a significant volume reduction of 433 units on a year-over-year basis. However, the compact car did reclaim the top spot within Chevy sales thanks to an increase in local inventory. The Chevy S10 further contributed to the drop in Chevy’s April sales. The midsize pickup further reduced its market share in Argentina due to the import ban imposed by local authorities for the entire month of April.
By contrast, the Chevy Tracker managed to post a solid double-digit increase last month, albeit recording a reduction in deliveries compared to previous months. This caused the subcompact crossover to drop from first to second place among the brand’s best sellers, after three consecutive months leading the ranking. Even so, the Tracker maintains a notable lead in the year-to-date figures.
