General Motors just unveiled the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, opening up an all-new, all-electric chapter for the iconic luxury SUV nameplate. Highlights include streamlined styling, a tech-heavy feature list, 55-inch infotainment screen, and 450 miles of range with 750 horsepower on tap. Production is slated to kick off next year.
Outside, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ presents a new look that’s considerably less bulky than that of the ICE-powered Cadillac Escalade. In the corners, look for optional 24-inch wheels, while customers can also option in a two-tone paint treatment, if desired. Two trim levels will be offered, including Luxury and Sport, each of which presents unique exterior details.
Moving inside, the cabin space is dominated by a curved pillar-to-pillar 55-inch LED display. Tech features abound, including optional GM Super Cruise driver assist available on more than 400,000 miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada.
Based on GM’s Ultium Platform, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is propelled by front- and rear-mounted drive motors that work in concert to provide all-wheel grip. Maximum output ratings range as high as 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, sending the SUV from a standstill to 60 mph in less than five seconds, while providing up to 8,000 pounds of towing capability.
All that juice comes from a 24-module, 200 kWh Ultium battery pack with 800-volt DC quick-charge capabilities, adding upwards of 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. GM estimates 450 miles of range on a full charge. The battery also provides vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capabilities via GM Energy’s Ultium Home products.
Suspending the new SUV is an independent layout front and rear, with Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and Adaptive Air Ride Suspension. Thanks to the Air Ride system, the body can be lowered by as much as two inches and raised by one inch. There’s also standard Four-Wheel Steer, allowing for a low 39.4-foot turning diameter.
The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will be assembled at the GM Factory Zero plant in Detroit, Michigan, with production slated to kick off next summer. Pricing starts at $130,000, including destination freight charge.

Nice job GM!
That interior looks amazing.
Wow. Trying to wrap my head around everything…
Second row seating is very nice. Need more details.
The average Joe would have to win the lottery to be able to afford one though.
Otter:
Since when are Cadillacs meant to be affordable to the “average Joe”?
I came here to say this. Average Joe would look at a Chevy before looking at Cadillac.
I see the V-slades at my local dealer last a couple of days before they are gone. 150. You don’t need an average joe, you just a need a joe that can afford it and wants it.
Wooooooow
Freaking amazing inside and out.
It is looking like I have been proven correct after these last couple of years. GM is fully taking advantage of this pivotal and in my opinion last chance to make Cadillac a True Tier One Luxury Brand again.
Kudos to the GM design team!!!
Laughing at a “Tier# luxury” system. Either you are, or you’re not. None of this BS tier stuff.
You have nameplates from Europe selling you garbage trucks, busses, taxis, government fleet, plumber vans, FWD econoboxes, and plebian sedan/wagons and they’re deemed “luxury” nameplates. Yet Cadillac is not good enough for that category?
You do realize that Cadillac practically wrote the book on luxury vehicles, no?
Magnificent! I do believe there will be a LWB version to this for third row seating capacity. I am checking my favorite YouTube channels for videos of this new EV now.
Taillights still look vertical to me. ??
Cadillac just abandoned its signature elegant vertical tail light design for, at first glance, a bulky and confusing style that IMHO looks like a 3-year old Kia. Incongruent with the front end and way too forced. This won’t age well….and far from “iconic”.
I have to agree w/ the taillights. I’m disappointed that they abandoned the signature vertical lighting element for a lyriq-esque style. Thats my only main nit pick.
I think it looks great overall but agree about the taillights. Never been a fan of their current upside down taillight look. The sooner they can return to traditional Cadillac rear styling the better IMO.
Its basically a celestiq in sheeps clothing and way cheaper. Not a real fan of the taillights but i’ll probably get used to it. Nice job overall gm
Tight third row , roofline that will limit cargo capacity , optional middle row with centre console , shifter on the steering column . For 130 grand and still has optional equipment , hard pass , 450 miles optimal . Add people , weight , environment conditions , you’ll be lucky to get. 400 miles . Just what the world needs another 350-400 true mile 130 plus electric vehicle , not .
“shifter on the steering column”
Where it should be. And it is a stalk, not a big truck like column shifter. That is the best compromise and most idea way to do a shifter. Now if they could just include some more storage on the console and for the love of god make the cup holders next to each other…
@commonsense
That is what I have been saying for years. They should do the shifter just like Mercedes and Tesla…..Finally
When I first saw the picture, I thought GMA was doing another article about Kia or Hyundai or maybe even the new Mazda CX90. Then I saw it was a “Cadillac”.
SUV and huge price tag. Another huge pass. But all the needy look at me types will love it.
Very modern.
Very gorgeous and high quality interior, definitely a step up from the ice Escalade, the competition in this segment is unreal, this is by far the most stunning with beautiful interior, only thing I’m a little disappointed is the rear c pillar with the crossover styling, I prefer the ICE Escalade c pillar that gives it a more full size suv personally.
Argh…..another damned EV.
Argh, another damned huge SUV.
I hope there’s a way to get the C-pillar in black, besides getting an all black Escalade. I think the “floating roof” design is overdone now.
Just what I want…a screen instead of an air vent. WTH?
Gayle:
Look more closely.
Bring on the Tahoe!
It will be quite interesting to see what the Yukon and Tahoe versions look like. I’d imagine they will be using some of the next gen battery tech by then though.
@Jaxon
Totally agree.
Imagine getting 400 miles of range on a Tahoe/Yukon.
Insane Fuel savings.
I get 360 miles on a full tank with 2019 Yukon denali 4×4
Cadillac needs to go back to being their own brand. Just a tricked out Tahoe. It will really be trick time with no treat with range limits.
Chip:
What makes you think this is a Tahoe?
Sure hate to break down with this in Montana.
Why there more than anywhere else?
Montana is wide open and rural. People in Montana outside of the liberal hotbeds of Missoula and Bozeman are fans of dependable IC engines. If your all electric whatever breaks down in rural Montana nobody will know how to work on it. That’s one of the reasons the US Army relies on diesel engines stripped of electronics and emission hardware. They want dependability, ease of maintenance and performance. Why would you want anything else? The electric luxury Cadillac is designed for city folks that shop the stores on Fifth Avenue, Rodeo Drive, and Worth Avenue. This is the fine dining and yacht crowd. See what I have, I’m more hip and progressive than thou!
Well, yes, that’s kind of the point. Those are the people with money and the image that’s most successful. Spendy young people. You may respect the image of the hard working grassroots down-to-earth working man who’s made enough money to afford an Escalade, but that’s not a very marketable ideal for big ticket luxury items. Besides, this hypothetical person would probably just buy a Tahoe instead.
This is not a new concept by the way
Then Cadillac shouldn’t exist at all, neither should GMC or Buick, and neither should the Corvette, Suburban, and I’m not even sure the Tahoe would survive that standard.

Also, I believe the Pentagon is ordering battlefield EVs from GM Defense.
Hope these “battlefield EVs” are shielded from EMPs…and the Pentagon has some sort of plan for “battlefield quick chargers”.
@David Alan Murray
ICE is more dependable from BEV?
In what World exactly, I am being very serious and not at all trying to be sarcastic.
Where are you getting your Data from?
Or did you mean run out of Battery in the middle of nowhere Montana?
UUUUH ,LOSE THE BLACK DASH , & TOP NEAR WINDOWS AND STEERING WHEEL , REST LOOKS GOOD .
NOTHING LIKE EXRA BURNING WITH THE BLACK COLOR ..
Sure is blingy. The rappers will swoon over it. Not bad, overall, but not real fond of the rear lighting.
It’s got some good points has got some bad points problem is the average consumer will never be able to afford 130 K for this plus whatever options to put on it
Fully Loaded Ice Range Rover Sport – $120K. Full loaded ICE Kia Telluride, include 3rd row seating, 100K warranty $55K. Kia’s new EV9 all electric all-wheel drive, third row seating, Starting price $68K. GM’s new Cadillac Escalade – Starting price $130K and who know when you will get a delivery date, Give me a break. GM will be following Proterra, the EV manufacturing company Biden and Harris promoted filed for bankruptcy. Rivian announced today it will lose $4B this year manufacturing their EVs. Ford announced they will lose $4B with EV’s this year as well. US manufacturers need a new strategic plan for ICE vehicles and well as transitioning to alternative fueled vehicle because it is obvious they can’t compete with the likes of Kia, and Toyota.
Compete with a Kia, LOL
I really appreciate all the thumbs down for comparing GM to Kia and Toyota. I have owned multiple GM vehicles and SUVs over the years and generally pleased. That said, GM is not what it used to be as it relates to delivery of vehicles, service etc. That said, in 2020 I traded my Tahoe for the new Telluride, Fully loaded more option than my Tahoe and a 100k warranty 48K. The Telluride is made in GA and is an awesome vehicle and a great value. I look at GM again and was not impressed with the vehicle and if I ordered one the dealership could not give me an ETA of when I would get the vehicle. I went to my Kia dealership and told them I wanted to trade my 2020 for a 2023 fully loaded. The 2023 came in at $54K an increase for 6k over my 2020. The dealer gave me $41 for my 2020 $7k less than I paid for it in 2020. I asked if I order it how long with it take. They said 3 months. It came in one week shy of 3 months as promised. $14K out of my pocket for a 3 year newer SUV. Note – They sold my 2020 in 3 days. So you all can LOL for comparing Kia and Toyota to GM but for price, delivery, warranty and service hands down, GM can not compete. Just an FYI, I don’t hate GM, I had a deposit on a Z06 for over two years and the dealership still cannot give me an order date so I ask for my deposit back. I am on the waiting list with a deposit from another dealership for an E-Ray. I wonder how long I will have to wait to place an order? Time will tell.
“Made in Georgia” hahaha. The profits from the purchase of your Kia still go back to South Korea.
The profits from the two Cadillac’s I own stayed in the U.S. where they were also built.
At least Kia is employing workers in GA to build the cars, and the money those workers earn goes back in to the US economy when they spend it. Unlike GM importing cars from China or South Korea, where they employ foreign labor and boost foreign economies.
One or two Buicks are imported from China.
You don’t think they ship cars from Korea? I don’t think everything for America comes from America.
GM also rebadged Chinese cars as American Cadillacs.
No model of Cadillac is currently imported from China, but facts are hard I guess.
Ajfauth:
Such as?
Just a few CT6’s were brought over years ago. And that was probably less than a 1000 – that’s why is was discontinued in the US.
The battery hybrid CT6 came from China. All others were made in Detroit.
The Range Rover Autobiography is 200K and has been sold out for months. This will sell.
This is not a Buick. Cadillac had plenty of room to move upmarket. Just need the product to command the price
DrPiz: I won’t wonder off on the rest of what you said, but here’s my take-away from your comment. This thing looks almost exactly like a Kia or Hyundai and even a Mazda now. But at double the money. Point being that it’s kind of difficult to make a bland box look like anything more than a bland box.
A Kia, Hyundai or a Mazda is nowhere near a Cadillac.
Robert: Now that is about the most silly response you could have put here. First, there’s little difference any more. But my comment was NOT about what you made it. My comment is about them all looking the same. Seriously, take a good look at the Mazda CX90 and tell me this doesn’t look nearly the same. They all look the same.
Robert, I agree when you are comparing ICE vehicles – but when it comes to BEVs, I’m not so sure. Is the more expensive new Lyriq significantly better than an older EV6 – not really. The EV9 with 3 rows has similar specs to the IQ, but 1/2 the price. Yes the Caddy is nicer with better range, but its not twice as nice. Wait until the Genesis version arrives with more content and slotted between the Kia and $130k (before options) Caddy. Hyundai-Kia sold over 1M more cars globally than GM in 2022 and is anticipated to sell over 7M vehicles in 2023 vs the projected 5.5M for GM. Within 3 years Hyundai-Kia will be challenging Toyota for the global sales crown while VW continues to contract.
Thanks for sharing Kia Hyundai numbers vs GM. Expect a lot of thumbs down from the people who think GM does not need to re-organize their strategic business plan which includes production/delivery to complete against Kia, Hyundai and Toyota.
I’ve owned GM cars for years (still have a 2020 Colorado ZR2 Duramax) and hope they thrive/survive, but I just don’t see it happening. GM (like the former British empire) is just managing decline. GM sold over 10M cars in 2016 and is now 1/2 of that with China sales collapsing. The strong gains GM is making in the US this year are Covid recovery demand and will evaporate by next year. Now that I drive a Tesla, there is no going back for me – when my CT is available the ZR2 is gone. My kids both drive hand me down Volts that have been 100% trouble free – another example of GM producing something exceptional, only to axe it when its about become profitable rather than expand the tech/drivetrain to SUVs, small trucks, etc. The sad part is, there are so many hard working GM employees that will pay the price for the reliably poor decisions management makes. They don’t even know they hit an iceberg.

As the old adage goes ” Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered. ” At $130K naked ex options, GM has stressed the entry price point on the electric Escalade. Early adapters that are into conspicuous consumption will purchase. I think Cadillac and GM executives in trying to recoup sunk battery development and battery plant costs are out in LA LA land on this $130K base pricing.
Ford and Rivian are losing $4B this year and GM is estimating $3.5B in EVs. Proterra the EV bus company that Biden and our energy department just went bankrupt. The US power grid cannot support 30 million EVs or even half that number. The trucking industry said switching from diesel to battery is not cost effective or efficient. Shipping cost and time to deliver will suffer. That coupled with the price of these vehicles, inflation etc. the average American afford to purchase them. This mandate to go all green is the biggest threat to America and the world. We lost all common sense.
GM is playing the short game.
GM is playing the long game. They have one battery plant pretty much at capacity, another next year and another after that. One more some time after that. Not to mention Factory Zero, one for Brightdrop, half of one in Tennesee, half of one in Mexico, and another in Orion.
Reality check for you. My local dealer will occasionally get a V-slade. MSRP I believe is 150ish. They last a couple of days on the lot. A platinum slade I think is 110-120. They too last a couple of days on the dealer’s site. At least in my market, 150 is not going to cause their clients to blink. To give you some idea, my sales guy will tell me he has customers that bought slades during the covid period sight unseen/delivered to their door at significant markup to tide them over while they were waiting for a slade configured the way they wanted because something they wanted was under constraint. Its not me, but I have come to realize there are many many many people way richer than me that spend it. I give gm credit on this one. A model X I think started at 150 and they sold plenty. The key is to beat the comp. This will. Larger than anyone else’s, range great, towing capable, V2H, fast acceleration, gorgeous interior. They will have a reservation list a mile long.
