The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT5 sales had a good start to the 2023 calendar year thanks to resumed production and associated improvements in inventory. This positive sales trend continued into the second quarter, though some rivals – namely BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi – continue significantly outperforming the CT5 on a collective basis.

Overall Cadillac new-vehicle inventory dipped to under 50 days supply in June. As a reminder, a 60-day supply is considered optimal in the U.S. auto industry by many automotive sales organizations such as the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA). That means a 60-day inventory level gives dealerships enough inventory on hand to sustain sales volume for roughly the next 60 days, or nearly two months.

About Cadillac CT5

The 2023 Cadillac CT5 arrives with just a handful of changes and updates over the 2022 Cadillac CT5, including a new Driver Assist Package as standard and Bronze Accent Package on the CT5 as well as on the CT5-V. However, the 2023 CT5 loses the Diamond Sky Special Edition Package, replacing it with the new CT5 Blue Accent package.

Notable changes for the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing include a whopping $7,000 price increase and the addition of the vaunted GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system to the options list. Notably, Super Cruise was previously unavailable on the Blackwing. For 2023 the CT5-V Blackwing also gets the addition of a new standard vehicle wrap as an alternative to the available enclosed shipping carrier option. Moreover, the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing also gets the new 120th Anniversary Edition to commemorate the founding of the luxury marque in 1902. The release of the special edition follows last year’s Collector Series, which stands apart from the rest of the lineup as the first 250 CT5-V Blackwing units produced.

While in December Consumer Reports said the 2023 Cadillac CT5 was a compact luxury car to avoid buying, just a week later Car and Driver named the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing to its 2023 10Best cars list.

The CT5 lineup will receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year. Here is what we know and expect for the 2025 Cadillac CT5. The first images of the refreshed CT5 recently leaked online, showing the updates without any camouflage for the first time.

We expect CT5 sales to continue growing as long as GM can keep production up and dealers supplied.

  1. I have now had my 2023 CT5V for a month and really enjoy driving the sport sedan. I also receive lots of compliments on the orange-copper paint. Very glad that I decided to go back to a sport sedan instead of getting another SUV.

  2. Would like to have Cadillac Dealership closer than 80 miles one way.
I am handicapped and have much difficulty making a trip that far for service.

    1. Brooks and Davy E: This is what happens when GM tries to follow the German and Japanese brands. They want to make a Cadillac dealer more elite and wanky like the others. I can’t say this enough. GM needs to let Cadillac be Cadillac and stop trying to be all the import brands

There was nothing (IMO) like swinging into the local GM dealer where you could walk around the lot and showroom and touch the Chevy’s, Buick’s and Cadillac’s all sitting near each other. Maybe most were just dreaming of the Cadillac and were pushing it to buy the Chevy, but it was a dream and gave people something to strive for.

Now what we get is far less dealers hours away, loaded with SUV after SUV and few if any sedans. Go to the Chevy dealer and most are putting older cars on the floor to give people something to actually look at. We get bland colors with few interior color options if any. I don’t care what anybody says. I feel like GM (Ford and most all) have done everything they can to make it more difficult to buy what WE want instead of what they want to sell us.

  3. Closest dealer to us is now 3 to 4 hours away. Local dealer 45 minutes away dropped brand rather than spend big bucks to go electric (largest town in NE. MS). Sister drove 4 hrs to Ridgeland, MS to buy 2023 CT4 & has now found getting warranty work to be a real issue & time consuming.

  4. Love my CT5-V! The best thing that can happen is to kill off the CT4. Cadillac had a winning formula with the second gen CTS. Size, price, variety of body styles. Then they decided to move the third gen up in price and marketing to be more of a 5-Series fighter, and bring in ATS to take on 3-Series. It didn’t work. The sedan segment is too crowded and shrinking in demand to justify CT4. Give the next generation CT5 (which we know they are working on an electric replacement based on GM Authority reporting) the same level of effort as the Escalade IQ, maybe offer a coupe, and keep it priced on par with the segment, and Cadillac will only see their share of this segment grow.

  5. Hey GM guys,
You need a sportier V with 450 hp to make the car more attractive for those who need AWD and don’t want the extreme 668hp monster but want more balls than what is there now.
