The 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition has made its official debut, a limited-production version of the high-performance sedan of which just 120 units will be produced.
As many readers will have guessed, this limited-edition 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing marks the storied American luxury brand’s 120th anniversary. Cadillac was founded by Henry Leland in 1902, who later sold the brand to General Motors in July of 1909.
Some of the equipment that sets the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition apart from a standard CT5-V Blackwing includes branded sill plates with a vintage Cadillac crest, a B-pillar mounted builders’ plaque with Cadillac graphics and commemorative year branding, a 120th Anniversary-branded shifter medallion (for manual transmission-equipped models only), a special steering wheel plaque, a certificate of authenticity and a free visit to the Spring Mountain V-Performance Academy driving experience in Nevada. All 120 examples will also feature a VIN serialization of the years spanning 1902 to 2022.
Cadillac auctioned off the first 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition at the recent Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction in Florida. The vehicle attracted a high bid of $250,000, with Cadillac donating the full hammer price to a non-profit called the SAE Foundation. The goal of this non-profit, Cadillac says, is to “increase access to world-class STEM experiences for students around the world.”
“Everyone at Cadillac is thrilled with this auction result,” Rory Harvey, vice president, Global Cadillac, said in a prepared statement. “We proudly support the SAE Foundation and are grateful to Barrett-Jackson for providing this opportunity. We will help create a new sustainability-focused challenge for high-school students across the country, as well as provide hands-on immersive STEM learning for students in under-resourced communities.”
Power in the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition comes from the same supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine as the standard CT5-V Blackwing, which is rated at 668 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 659 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. Output is routed exclusively to the rear wheels by way of either a GM six-speed manual transmission or GM 10-speed automatic.
Pricing for the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition has yet to be confirmed by GM. Pricing for the series production model starts at $84,940 including destination and freight charges.

Sounds nice. I’ve always liked special edition trims and fondly recall the Elegante’s, D’Elegance’s, Biaritz’s, Spring Editions, etc as well as several very nice special edition Buick’s over the years. They were all special (IMO) and were all based on more of a luxury theme instead of performance based. But at least Cadillac is doing something here. It would be nice if they would offer a nice 120th edition for the more luxury based cars.
On another note: I noticed this says 2023 and that the first one was auctioned off and it was a 2023 model. So my question is did Cadillac just skip 2022’s? Last I knew, they were still shipping new 2021’s after they re-started production and I have not seen any 2022’s for sale.
That might be good possibility, since the 23’s are right around the corner. But isn’t it great that GM rushed one out early just so it could be actioned off? Who needs a 22 anyway?
Showing a first generation logo as an Easter egg looks out of place for a modern machine like this even though it is a nice touch to honor the anniversary.
Johnls_39: I see what you are saying, but boy do those look nice. Personally I feel like this package would hav efit better with a more luxury trim and not the V. Either way, I’m glad they are doing something.
What are they doing?
Bill: Not totally sure what you are asking, but I think you may be asking about the easter egg comment? If yes, they refer to hidden (partly hidden) emblems/symbols on vehicles as easter eggs. Guess it’s because of the tradition of hiding easter eggs for kids, so they kind of hide these on cars too. Jeep is most well known for doing this, but they all do.
No, I referring to your remark about the packages. But adding an easter egg to an otherwise boring article might seem exciting to some. I think the biggest concern would be if you could get a Caddy at all and if so when? So your excitement is a little premature! Dan
Bill: You really have me confused. You ask what are they doing? Then you say your question was asking about what package? Did you even read the article and/or the title?
120th Anniversary Edition. That’s what they are doing.
The “easter eggs” are just part of the package.
No kidding, 120th Ann. Edition. So what are they doing, they built one, are they building more? Will they be able to build more, what happened to 22’s, if they can’t build 22’s then how can they build 23’s? Easter eggs, oh boy how exciting, Yeah I’ll be willing to pay 20K over just for that! Your right you confuse easily! I’m glad they built one, at least their doing something, what a stupid statement.
Bill: You truly are special aren’t you? Really special.

IDK, the CTS/CT5 V use to be a big bargain (and still is compared to the Germans) but now it’s hitting 6 figures and limited availability, where the CTS-V days you can get one well equip for under $80k anytime you want, power isn’t too much of a problem as you can get 100hp out the engine by looking at it. The CT4 BW is the better bargain now..
Cry
Whine…
That’s all you do when you get downvoted is cry and whine. You have dropped so many turds on this website people will continue to treat you like the troll you are no matter what you say.
Lol, “Rent Free” right here.. As said I’ll still say what comes to mind and to GM vehicles rather good or bad.
And you will continue to be downvoted stop crying about it.
Exactly 15 people and counting are living rent free in your head.
The pleather at least looks decent everything else looks extremely cheap.
C’mon…make these a coupe!!! Lame azz 4-door!
They do.

Now if you could only get one or any Cadillac! My Cadillac dealer has zero Cadillac inventory despite sold cars that have been ordered, deposit paid and waiting for something to happen.
Why not concentrate on fulfilling the Cadillac CT5V orders that are way behind now, instead of offering up new Models for 2023? God knows, those of us that have ordered the 2022 CT5V, are still waiting, and will soon move onto other manufactures. General Motors communication with their waiting customers has been absolutely brutal.
But Dan B is glad their doing something, what I don’t know? Maybe Dan B knows something we don’t know?
I agree! I ordered a blackwing back in October and found out today that I won’t be getting a 2022. They said I would be getting a 2023. They also required me to pay a $5000 non refundable deposit when I placed the order. Do you think I will get the 2023 at the price that I ordered the 2022? Hell no! They said there will be a price increase. I call. B.S!
Cant even get a Blackwing in Canada,,,,,, We seem to be way down the priority list with Cadillac. Hoping they catch up with production if thats the reason none are coming north of the border.
