The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet sales were down year-over-year during Q2 2024 with most of models in the red.
Regardless of the reporting period, the all-new Chevy Trax subcompact crossover is still the growth leader among the Bow Tie brand’s 18 model lines, followed by the new Chevy Colorado midsize pickup truck.
Overall Chevy EV sales grew 181 percent to nearly 20K units during Q3 2024, led by the Equinox EV and Blazer EV with 9.772 and 7,998 deliveries, respectively. The Silverado EV saw five units shy of 2K deliveries.

Though production for the Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV is officially over, the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV is on the way, scheduled to arrive in 2025 for the 2026 model year.
Sales of Chevy utility vehicles, comprised of unibody crossovers and body-on-frame SUVs, did not fare well this time around, with the Trax being the only model in the green, continuing to outsell the Chevy Equinox, which was once Chevy’s best-selling utility.
Meanwhile, the Chevy Blazer, saw the biggest drop among utilities, followed by the Chevy Suburban, the Chevy Tahoe, the Chevy Traverse, and the Chevy Trailblazer.
The all-new Equinox and next-generation Traverse have arrived, and will soon be joined by the refreshed Tahoe and Suburban models. The Trailblazer was refreshed for the 2024 model year.
Both the Chevy Corvette and Chevy Malibu were in the red for the quarter. Production of the 2025 Malibu is scheduled to end this year to make way for the next-gen Bolt EV at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas.
Chevy’s truck lines were a mixed bag. While the Chevy Silverado full-size truck lineup is the perennial sales volume leader for Chevrolet and GM overall, it was in the red overall. Meanwhile the midsize Colorado pickup was in the green during the quarter. The Chevy LCF trucks were down three percent.
Sales of the dated Chevy Express were in the green. ALong with the GMC Savana, the Express full-size van is an old vehicle that traces its roots to the 1990s, being the oldest GM model currently in production. Even though The General previously entertained plans to redesign the Chevy Express for the 2027 model year, keeping the ICE powertrain, it seems that it has canceled these plans, instead electing to simply rebadge the all-electric BrightDrop vans as Chevys.
To date, GM has sold more than 3 million units of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana.

Welcome to the new normal. Overpricing, lack of reasonable choices, Trax excepted, and total arrogance only goes so far. And, like many other automakers, low cash but slightly subsidized financing or lower leases doesn’t do what buyers want. Lots of cash.
I just saw a Chevy commercial for a $299 lease for the old, outgoing ’24 Equinox LT. Try $199, GM.
Welcome to the new normal, rising EV sales and tanking ICE sales.
On Mars, maybe. Seriously, EVs sales might be rising but the total EVs sold are miniscule compared to ICEs.
Let’s revisit that statement in 5 years in the US. It’ll be about 50/50. Just as it is in China today.
If dealerships would lower the dang prices on the EVs maybe we’d be able to afford buying them. Some of us don’t have $55k or more for a tiny small EV that’s about $25 or $30k.
EV pricing is set by GM. Dealers have nothing to do with it.
I think you mean “if manufacturers would lower prices”. Dealers are only going to stomach to lose so much on these units. And when they do, they’ll simply pass the units on consensus when they are allocated to the dealer.
The Blazer EV and Equinox EV are not tiny. Neither is the Model y, IONIQ 5, EV6, and others.
Not sure what you are blathering about.
wait for the bloodbath in a few more cycles.
