The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet Colombia sales continued their negative performance with a new notable double-digit contraction in July, when the systematic reduction in volume again took the Bowtie brand out of the podium of the best-selling in the country, ranking fourth. The contraction represents Chevrolet’s third consecutive monthly drop in the Colombian market after having registered an increase in April that interrupted a bad streak of 18 consecutive months.
Most of the models offered by Chevrolet in Colombia suffered sales losses in July, although less severe compared to previous months. Among them, the nameplates that most impacted the overall result were the line of commercial trucks of Isuzu origin, with a contraction of 89 units year-over-year, and the Chevy Tracker, which lost 55 deliveries year-over-year. In addition, the entire line of pickup trucks of the brand in the country registered red numbers with the new Chevy Montana suffering the greatest loss.
In contrast, the Chevy Onix posted a healthy increase that stabilized the commercial performance of the brand’s best-selling model in Colombia. The two-version line of the popular subcompact car added 45 deliveries in July and once again positioned itself as one of the preferred vehicles of Colombian customers. Meanwhile, four Chevy utility vehicles with low local volume imported from Mexico and the United States also registered increases, including the Chevy Traverse, which had a notable triple-digit increase.
