Chevrolet Brazil sales decreased 5.5 percent to 28,011 units in August 2024. The figures rank GM as the third-largest car manufacturer in the country behind Stellantis and Volkswagen Group, while Chevrolet finished as the third best-selling automobile brand, behind Fiat and VW.
Individual model sales performance was as follows:
- Chevrolet Bolt EV sales increased 66.67 percent to 5 units
- Chevrolet Camaro sales totaled 7 units
- Chevrolet Corvette sales decreased 14.29 percent to 6 units
- Chevrolet Cruze sales decreased 93.75 percent to 8 units
- Chevrolet Equinox sales increased 10.98 percent to 364 units
- Chevrolet Montana sales decreased 18.1 percent to 2,362 units
- Chevrolet Onix sales decreased 9.99 percent to 13,861 units
- Onix hatchback sales totaled 9,018 units
- Onix Plus sedan sales totaled 4,843 units
- Chevrolet S10 sales increased 2.99 percent to 2,098 units
- Chevrolet Silverado sales totaled 57 units
- Chevrolet Spin sales increased 12.52 percent to 2,634 units
- Chevrolet Tracker sales increased 0.69 percent to 6,416 units
- Chevrolet Trailblazer sales increased 61.47 percent to 176 units
During the first eight months of the 2024 calendar year, Chevrolet Brazil sales decreased six percent to 195,278 units.

The GM Authority Take
The decline in Chevrolet Brazil sales during the month of August deepens the brand’s negative performance in the South American country. It continues to lag behind its main competitors and has settled into third position, significantly weakening its competitiveness for market leadership. The result represents the second consecutive monthly decline and a year-over-year loss of 1,628 Chevrolet deliveries in the Brazilian market.
As it did in June, Chevrolet Brazil’s poor showing in August was driven primarily by a further decline for the Chevy Onix, which overshadowed healthy increases for half a dozen models in the month. Although the 13,861 units sold represent an improvement in volume over the previous month and some recovery in the rate of decline, the Onix again lost its position as the country’s best-selling vehicle, dropping to third place behind the Fiat Strada (16,423) and Volkswagen Polo (14,274).
Meanwhile, most of the brand’s models managed to increase their sales last month and were led this time by the Chevy Spin – which posted the most significant increase, adding nearly 300 units year-over-year to overall Chevy volume. Also of note were good performances by the recently updated Chevy S10 and Chevy TrailBlazer SUV – with the highest growth rate – as well as a slight increase by the Chevy Tracker for both the month and the year-to-date total.
