The GM Authority Take

After two consecutive months in the green, Chevrolet Chile sales decreased significantly in September. The brand’s poor performance in the Chilean market during in September contrasts with the positive results of its primary rivals and the general movement of the local industry, causing the Bow Tie brand to fall from second to fifth place among the country’s best-selling brands.

Chevy Groove

The drop suffered by Chevrolet Chile in September is the result of declines in the sales of volume of several models, including the Chevy Groove. The entry-level crossover suffered the most significant decrease, sapping a year-over-year volume of almost 180 units that tipped the overall balance to the negative side. In fact, this stumble caused the Groove to lose its position as the brand’s best-selling vehicle during the month. In addition, the Chevy Onix had the highest percentage drop, sapping almost 100 units compared to September 2023.

All-new Chevy Sail

By contrast, the Chevy Sail posted a massive five-digit increase and continues its momentum in the Chilean market, where the nameplate has led sales for several years. Though Chevy’s most affordable surpassed the Groove as the most popular model during the month, its volume remains far from the high levels of the previous Sail and the best-selling vehicles in the market. Another standout model was the Chevy Silverado, which saw a solid double-digit increase that reinforces its leadership of the local full-size pickup segment.
