Sales of Chevy Low Cab Forward (LCF) trucks increased a healthy 71 percent during the first quarter of 2024.

The GM Authority Take

The second-generation Chevy Low Cab Forward (LCF) lineup is a medium-duty truck that results from a partnership between GM and Isuzu Motors announced in June 2015. Isuzu developed and built the trucks, with GM providing some components, including gasoline engines.

Isuzu just announced that its F-Series trucks would get a battery-electric powertrain, which may interest The General in the future for the Chevy LCF.

The LCF lineup was joined by the Silverado MD (medium duty) chassis cab trucks introduced for the 2019 model year. These trucks succeeded the Chevy Kodiak, which was discontinued in 2009.

For the 2023 model year, GM introduced the Chevy Low Cab Forward 7500XD, powered by the same 6.7L Cummins six-cylinder engine found in the 6500XD, with cogs handled by an Allison 2500 RDS transmission, offering an even more cable medium-duty chassis cab option.

The LCF lineup is now also sold under the new GM Envolve brand, which offers a full program of tailored solutions, providing high-tech management for both ICE and electric vehicle commercial fleet operations.

GM continues to expand its automotive offerings for commercial and business applications to keep business in the family, as it were.
