The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales decreased drastically again in February, deepening the brand’s negative performance in the South American country. As such, this new loss represents Chevrolet’s fourth consecutive monthly decline in the Argentine market due to low inventory levels generated by the shortage of foreign currency that severely affects the local automotive industry. Last month’s 1,270 deliveries become one of the worst figures in the recent history of GM Argentina.

In February, practically all Chevrolet Argentina models suffered substantial drops of up to three digits in the case of the Chevy TrailBlazer SUV, which did not register any sales in February. The bad result again reached the locally manufactured Chevy Tracker, which had a year-on-year drop of 122 units as a result of the low level of inventory caused by the temporary interruption of production of the crossover at the GM Alvear plant in the first two months of the year.

The red numbers cover almost all of the brand’s records, except the Chevy Spin – which maintained a slight increase in the accumulated total to date – and the all-new Chevy Montana, which had not yet begun to be marketed in February 2023. However, the volume of the compact pickup is only decreasing, which represents a notable downturn compared to the record of previous months.
