Chevrolet Chile Sales Down 16 Percent In January 2024

Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 16 percent to 1,655 units in January 2024. The figures place Chevrolet as the country’s second best-selling automobile brand of the month, behind Toyota.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. No sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Chile:

The GM Authority Take

The poor performance of Chevrolet Chile sales in January further deepens the negative streak of the brand’s business in the South American country. Chevy has accumulated no less than 16 consecutive months of contraction with systematic volume and market share losses. Despite being one of the lowest figures in recent months, Chevrolet’s result in the first month of 2024 allowed it to regain second place among the best-selling brands in the Chilean market.

Once again, most of the models that Chevrolet sells in Chile suffered notable double-digit drops in January, including the best-selling Chevy Groove. The small entry-level crossover had the lowest decline rate. It sold 113 fewer units year over year, with a volume of 481 deliveries that still allowed it to lead sales for the month among utility vehicles. In contrast to the healthy growth of previous months, the Chevy Silverado was the brand’s model that suffered the steepest decline in sales in January.

For its part, the Chevy Sail stood out positively with a high increase of almost three digits last month, placing it second on the podium among the brand’s best sellers in Chile. The 260 deliveries represent the second-best figure for the vehicle since the launch of the all-new 2024 Chevy Sail last November. In addition to the healthy increase in the commercial truck line, the new Chevy Montana compact pickup maintained stable numbers and curiously managed to add 113 sales to the monthly result – the same amount lost by the Groove.
