The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Brazil sales continue to decrease. The significant double-digit drop recorded in March deepens the brand’s negative trend in the country, where it has already accumulated a notable streak of five consecutive months of contraction. Chevrolet’s new volume loss further reduced the Bow Tie brand’s level of participation and competitiveness in the Brazilian market, where it is now positioned in a distant third place among the best-selling brands.

Chevrolet Brazil Sales Down 28 Percent In March 2024

This is the result of widespread declines in most Chevrolet Brazil vehicles in March, when the brand’s range had a high loss of more than 8,500 units year after year. The Chevy Onix, Chevy Montana, Chevy Spin, and Chevy S10 are among the models with the highest shrinkage rates, with significant reductions of up to 3,648 deliveries for the Onix. As such, the subcompact car once again lost sales leadership during the month to the Volkswagen Polo (11,943 units), but still remained the most popular throughout the first quarter.

In contrast, the only models that managed to increase their sales last month were the Chevy Corvette and Chevy Cruze, thanks to a circumstantial improvement in unit inventory. The Cruze had the most notable growth, although the result represents the last stock units of the vehicle after the end of its manufacturing in Argentina in late 2023.
