The Chevrolet Kodiak is a line of medium duty trucks marketed by General Motors’ Chevrolet brand. The vehicles spanned three generations and were sold from 1980 through 2009, when Chevrolet parent General Motors exited the medium-duty truck segment.
Common uses for the Kodiak were as a basis for cargo haulers, work trucks, dump trucks, fire trucks, and other types of similar vehicles that necessitated medium duty torque, GVWR, and towing capacity. In addition, many aftermarket coachbuilders used the trucks as a basis for pickup trucks and commercial-level trucks for consumers.
In March 2017, Chevrolet announced that it plans on introducing a “flagship, medium duty truck”. This vehicle could end up being a next-generation, future Chevrolet Kodiak.
