The GM Authority Take

The new decrease in Chevrolet Colombia sales in February further deepened the negative performance of the brand in the South American country, accumulating no less than 16 consecutive months of contraction. The drop caused Chevrolet to fall for the first time to fourth position among the best-selling brands in the Colombian market – which, until a couple of years ago, it had widely led. The brand recently regained second place on the podium after occupying the third position for much of 2023.

This poor result for Chevrolet Colombia is the result of the general drop in sales volume of most vehicles that the brand offers in the country – including its most popular models, Chevy Onix, Chevy Tracker, and the line of commercial trucks of Isuzu origin. Although it remains the brand’s best-selling car in Colombia, the Onix continues to lose ground among Colombian customers. For its part, the Tracker suffered the brand’s most significant single drop last month.

Chevy Captiva

In contrast, the Chevy Captiva and a few low-volume models managed to increase their sales in February but without enough capacity to balance the scales. Additionally, the all-new Chevy Montana continued to decline in monthly performance in Colombia and has not yet been able to win over many customers in the country’s emerging compact pickup segment.
