The GM Authority Take

The negative streak of Chevrolet Colombia sales deepened again with the notable year-over-year drop in January. It subtracted almost 800 sales compared to the same month last year and more than 1,000 deliveries compared to December 2023. In fact, last month’s poor performance became Chevrolet’s 15th consecutive contraction in the Colombian market. However, the brand returned to position itself in second place in sales after occupying third for much of last year.

As usual, most Chevrolet Colombia models recorded significant volume losses in January – including each of the brand’s five best-selling nameplates in the country. The Chevy Onix suffered the most significant loss after majorly recovering late last year. The Onix, the Chevy Tracker, and the commercial truck line occupied the podium as the brand’s first, second, and third best-selling vehicles in Colombia during the first month of the year – respectively.

Although four models managed to score notable three-digit sales increases, the impact is minimal due to their low volume, which combined barely reached 88 units for the month. The all-new Chevy Montana added 47 deliveries in January, a fairly low volume that represents a contraction of 55 percent compared to the 105 units that the compact pickup sold in Colombia the previous month.
