Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)
Cadillac Lyriq sales during Q1 2024 kept the battery-electric crossover in second place from the previous quarter in the electric luxury D-crossover segment when ranked by sales volume. The Tesla Model Y continues to vastly outperform all contenders in this space, with a 28 percent bump in sales for an impressive 100K-plus deliveries, or 109,000 units, specifically. The Lyriq (see running Cadillac Lyriq sales) followed in second place with 5,800 deliveries, posting a new high in units moved this quarter. The Audi Q8 e-tron took third with 1,614 deliveries, while the Lexus RZ was close behind again in fourth with 1,603 sales, followed by the Jaguar I-Pace in last moving 679 units.

From a segment share standpoint, the Lyriq earned a five percent share, while the Q8 e-tron, RZ, and I-Pace each held just a one percent share. The Model Y led with a dominating 92 percent segment share.
The electric luxury D-crossover segment grew 38 percent to 118,696 units during Q1 2024, again primarily due to growth posted by the Tesla Model Y but with the Lyriq contributing as well.
The GM Authority Take
Cadillac Lyriq sales showed healthy gains as it has the past year, thanks to a continuing ramp-up in production as inventory has improved considerably. The first quarter of 2024 marked a new high for Lyriq sales performance in the U.S. market. Of course, it and all entries in the small space are still overshadowed by the Tesla Model Y, which accounted for over 90 percent of all deliveries.
In addition to the U.S., deliveries of the Lyriq continue in Canada and Mexico, and GM recently launched Cadillac’s all-electric luxury crossover in France and Germany, with Australia being the next destination beyond our shores.
About Cadillac Lyriq
The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq arrives with several important changes and updates. Among these is the introduction of the new Tech and Sport trim levels, with the Luxury trim level slotting between those. Furthermore, the 2024 Lyriq Luxury 3 and Sport 3 are now available with 20-inch wheels. All three trim levels (Tech, Luxury, Sport) are available in the U.S. with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is the first GM vehicle in North America to feature 5G network connectivity, standard on all trim levels. The 2024 Lyriq also gets a new power panoramic dual-panel sunroof, a newly available Nappa Leather seating package, which is genuine leather made from calfskin or other types of soft cowhide, and a new trailer hitch.
Regardless of the trim level selected, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq maximum range-per-charge is 314 miles for rear-wheel-drive models, with motor output set at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and 307 miles for all-wheel-drive models, with motor output set at 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the 2024 Lyriq AWD offers a new Velocity powertrain upgrade, boosting torque by 74 pound-feet, raising the peak rating from 450 to 524 pound-feet. GM asserts that the zero to 60 mph time improves from the standard AWD variant’s 4.7 seconds to 4.4.
The all-electric luxury crossover rides on the GM BEV3 platform and is motivated by GM Ultium batteries paired with GM Ultium Drive motors.
Production for the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is currently scheduled to begin on September 9th.

Impressive for what I consider the best looking EV out there (Yes looks are subjective but I find it to be the most attractive EV out there). But I think GMs real volume vehicle to watch will be the Equinox EV (provided they don’t f@#$ it up with the pricing) and the new Bolt EUV. Who knows if it will reach Model Ys level (probably not) but I can tell you not all Americans want Teslas. I for one will never go for a Tesla and would prefer a GM, Hyundai/Kia, or Rivian EV (if they survive). I don’t care for Elon and the cars simply don’t appeal to me like makes I mentioned do. The only way I see myself getting a Tesla is if the only other options are Chinese makes which I will never buy on principle alone.

They’re at 5,800 for one quarter alone. Production is still increasing and they’re already at a sales rate of more than 20,000 for 2024.
What are you basing the 20,000 sales figure on?
They will never make money on it…at least this generation…basically giving them away to get carbon credits so they can make big money on the gas guzzlers they sell…so ironic but so true
They’ve told analysts and the SEC that they expect Ultium to be profit positive late this year or early next. I understand if the prediction was 2 years out as a lot can happen within that time frame, but a 6-10 months prediction means they’re close.
Dont forget those numbers just mean they have been shipped not necessarily sold…I saw 2 sitting on a small local Chevy CAD dealer
My local Cadillac dealer has 10 Lyriq on the lot, they are not selling. Floorplan costs have to be hurting dealers. They are sold out of CT4, CT5, XT5 and Escalade. Go figure!
At this rate, how long until they catch and surpass Tesla sales?
Is the MY and Lyriq really competitors in the same class of EV? I’ve an MY is Australia and the Lyriq is being launched here in OZ later this year, very different demographic market.
