The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is the second model year for the luxury marque’s all-electric crossover, offering a few updates and changes over the original 2023 model year. Among these are new wheel options for the Luxury 3 and Sport 3 trim levels. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the new 20-inch wheel options on offer for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 3 and Sport 3 trims.
For those readers who may be unaware, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 3 and Sport 3 trims originally launched with a single 22-inch wheel option each. However, new 20-inch wheels can now be specified as well. The new 20-inch wheels have been available since mid-May of the 2023 calendar year.
Simply put, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 3 can now be ordered with the 20-inch Split 6-Spoke alloy wheels with Diamond Cut/Dark Android finish and Gloss Black aero inserts (RPO code NZN), which replace the 22-inch Dynamic Split Spoke Reverse Rim alloy wheels with Polished/Gloss Black finish (RPO code PJA) wheels offered originally. Meanwhile, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Sport 3 can be ordered with the 20-inch Dynamic 12-Spoke alloy wheels with Diamond Cut/Satin Dark Android finish (RPO code RD4), replacing the 22-inch Dynamic Split-Spoke Reverse Rim alloy wheels with After Midnight finish (RPO code PHZ) offered originally.
In both cases, downgrading from 22-inch wheels to 20-inch wheels decreases vehicle pricing by $1,000.

As a reminder, GM has updated the estimated range-per-charge for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, with RWD models offering a maximum of 314 miles between plugs. Under the skin, all Cadillac Lyriq variants utilize GM’s Ultium battery tech and GM Ultium Drive motors, while the GM BEV3 platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

GM should invest all its energy in the production of EV models. There are many people who have signed a vehicle in 2022 and have not yet received it. If the disastrous hourly rate of production for Lyric and Hummer EVs is the same for Blazer EVs and Equinox EVs, there will be a terrible situation where all buyers just wait and leave. In order to solve the shortage of battery packs, which is the cause of the shortage of production, they need to find a way to get a bloody battery supply quickly. While waiting for the vehicle, buyers are very angry.
Luckily my Lyriq Luxury 3 has been built, but there’s more going on than just batteries. Otherwise so many Tech, Luxury 1 and Sport 1 Lyriqs wouldn’t have been built. My dealer currently has 5 on the lot. I think Super Cruise has been a hold up on the Lyriq and Hummers. The Blazer doesn’t get SuperCruise until the SS model next Spring.
Agree, my dealer has shown 8-10+ on the lot for a couple of months. Lower trims.
GM needs to realize the hype goes away during the wait. Then the upcharge the dealer puts on the vehicle also puts customers into other EV’s …IF they still want them…probably not. Soon customers will no longer desire EV and go right back to regular Equinox and Blazer’s which have a predictable future history based upon past success.
The wheels on the Lyric are bland. For the price of the vehicle they should scream look at me…
GM needs to add heated steering to its Tech lineup base!
I think the more likely option is they are going to get rid of the tech trim. It was only there originally to get below the $60k mark for the tax credit. I could see them getting rid of the Luxury 1 and Sport 1 as well. There’s a lot of overlap with the Blazer EV at those prize ranges. That would leave the Lyriq with Sport/Luxury 2, 3 and V series.
Yes, I think originally EPA or some agency was going to label the Lyriq as a car instead of a SUV, so the threshold was 60 but now is 80? I think. The whole credits/rebates thing is just so convoluted at this point. The governments are shoveling money towards EV’s. CC’s, credits, rebates, HOV lanes…
I’ve had a Lyriq on order for now a year with a $1000 deposit through my dealer in Englewood Fl.
Am I ever going to get this car?
The question you need to ask the dealer is. Where are you on their list, how many allocations do they get per week on average for your model, and how many are on that list before you have similar models?
Saying you put $1000 down doesn’t say anything if that dealer has 500 in front of you with similar orders.
what kind are you waiting on? I could sell you one from Long Island.
I don’t care much about larger wheels. It may look better to some, but I prefer more tire sidewall height. Besides, bigger wheels increases cost. And when will Cadillac adopt Michelin’s UPTIS wheels to eliminate flats and reduce tire cost?
Probably when Michelin makes it available for sale. From Michelin’s web site. “Michelin and GM also announced a joint research agreement under which the companies intend to validate the Uptis Prototype with the goal of introducing Uptis on passenger models as early as 2024.” Note the word goal in the press release. I googled and when google doesn’t give me a hit with a price and retailer, it means to me it is simply not yet for sale. In the interim, is Lyriq equipped with run flats. My corvette is.
This was a very good decision to make 20inch wheels a option on Lux/Sport 3 models
Next up Black Leather on LUX/Sport 2 and 3 models,
Also a metal roof option with a standard sized sunroof as a Option for buyers/operators who have no need for a full glass roof and at times may use the roof for storage on trips.
22″ wheels kill mileage in city driving. My Escalade with 22″ wheels gets 14 mpg around town my other Escalade with 18″ wheels gets 18 mpg!!!
I reserved a 2024 Lyriq AWD in June 2022. The first configuration was available in February 2023 and accepted by my dealership the end of March 2023. The is for a Luxury Level 3, which the dealership said could not be placed with the factory until they received allotments of Level 2 and Level 3 Lyriqs, which were apparently not being accepted. The factory order was finally accepted on August 18, 2023, with expected production between Sept 11 – 17th.
From the beginning I had requested 20” wheels to replace the 22” but was told the option was unavailable.
I have sent this article and other references to my dealership, but they claim the option was not available on Aug 18, when they placed the factory order. Yet this post and others have consistently said the 20” wheel option has been available since mid-May 2023. Now my dealership claims it’s too late to change the factory order. So who is telling the truth? Is the 20” wheel option real and does the factory know about it? And why can’t my order be adjusted prior to scheduled production?
20″ wheels are available. Even on the Cadillac site it allows you to configure 20″ on Luxury/Sport 3 models. I think the concern with the dealer is if they change your order now (potentially possible) there is a possibility the TPW gets pushed to a different week. Just because the dealer makes the change doesn’t mean GM has to accept it for the same TPW. That means they basically lost an allocation if yours was going to be built the week of September 11th. That then delays when they get the car and when you actually take possession of the vehicle.
There’s a lot that goes into building a car to make sure all the parts are available when the car is scheduled to be built.
I changed to 20″ wheels on my AWD Sport 3 (which I’m still waiting on an allocation) as soon as it came available because I know they will give a better ride, as well as better range, less chance of curb scars on the rims, longer tire life and less expensive replacement tires. $1000 off is icing on the cake.
My Lyriq will be replacing a 2015 GMC Yukon XL Denali that came with 20″ wheels when most Yukon Denali’s and Escalades were shipping with 22’s. I’ve had friends with 22’s on the same type vehicle who consistently commented on how much better the ride was in mine. Only difference being wheel size.
Bigger wheels and lower profile tires may look great and handle a little better, but they have their shortcomings (noted above). They are a product of automotive designers who are mainly concerned with appearance and performance at the expense of comfort and utility. They are embraced and promoted by the tire industry who benefit from more frequent sales of more expensive tires.
Thanks to Cadillac for offering this option.
