Cadillac XT4 sales decreased in the United States, Canada, and Mexico during the fourth quarter of 2023.

Cadillac XT4 sales during the fourth quarter of 2023 kept the small luxury crossover in seventh place from the previous quarter in its segment of ten when ranked by sales volume. The Lexus NX took the top spot, as it has for well over a year, with sales growing 32 percent to 22,841 units. The Acura RDX followed in second with a 140 percent jump in sales to 12,026 units, but nearly 11K deliveries below the NX. The Buick Envision (see running Buick Envision sales), the XT4’s corporate cousin and E2 platform mate, placed third with a 23 percent bump to 9,439 units. The all-new 2023 BMW X1 took fourth with 8,140 deliveries as it continues its growth trajectory, and the Audi Q3 followed in fifth with a 21 percent swell to 7,807 units. All other entries posted negative sales growth. That includes the Lincoln Corsair (see running Lincoln Corsair sales), placing sixth with a nine percent dip to 6,901 units, but ahead of its cross-town rival, the Cadillac XT4 (see running Cadillac XT4 sales), which took seventh with a 28 percent dip to 4,900 units. Mercedes-Benz’s two entries, the GLB-Class and GLA-Class, followed in eighth and ninth place, respectively, with the GLB-Class down 38 percent to 3,687 units and the GLA-Class down 86 percent to 773 units. Finally, BMW’s second entry, the X2, finished at the bottom with a 95 percent drop to just 15 units since first-generation X2 production has ceased and the Bavarian automaker prepares to bring the all-new 2024 BMW X2 to market.

The XT4 earned a six percent market share in its segment, down four percentage points year-over-year. The NX led with a 30 percent segment share, up three percentage points, to command nearly a third of all sales here. The RDX doubled its share to 16 percent, while the Envision maintained a 12 percent share. The X1 earned an 11 percent share, up seven percentage points, and the Q3 maintained a 10 percent share. The Corsair followed with a nine percent share, down three percentage points. The GLB-Class posted a five percent share, down four percentage points, while the GLA-Class held just a one percent share, down seven percentage points. Unsurprisingly, the X2’s share was nil.
Combining Buick Envision sales with Cadillac XT4 sales gives GM a cumulative 14,339 deliveries for an 18 percent segment share, putting The General in second place in the luxury C-crossover segment while claiming almost a fifth of all deliveries.

The luxury C-crossover segment grew 17 percent to 76,529 units in Q4 2023, meaning Cadillac XT4 sales significantly underperformed the segment average.
We’re surprised again at the poor Cadillac XT4 sales performance, falling another quarter in spite of offering a refreshed 2024 model. Constrained inventory was likely to blame last time, and, for Q4 2023, the UAW strike that prompted GM to idle Chevy Malibu and Cadillac XT4 production in late September didn’t help. However, at the end of October, GM and the UAW reached a tentative contract agreement, which was subsequently ratified by the UAW’s GM council.
While Cadillac’s new-vehicle inventory increased in October, supply was still at just 48 days supply and well below the 60 days supply considered optimal by many car industry analysts and automakers. Consequently, Cadillac’s inventory remained below the industry average in November of 71 days, with supply at 61 days. Then Cadillac’s inventory decreased in December back to 52 days supply.
On another note, Cadillac ranked average in the Consumer Reports 2024 Reliability Report, though it still placed above the average dependability of U.S. automakers. However, the luxury marque ranked below average in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.
Meanwhile, the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 features an updated exterior, a new cockpit, and new tech features. Once again, The trim level lineup includes Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport, each featuring unique accents and available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
The changes start with new front and rear ends, the former incorporating an updated grille design and new LED headlights with signature vertical lighting cues. The refreshed model also introduces new alloy wheel designs, including 18-inch and 20-inch options, plus three new exterior colors.
Inside, we find an overhauled cabin headlined by a new 33-inch, 9K-resolution LED color touchscreen lifted straight from the Cadillac Lyriq. The 2024 Cadillac XT4 also offers a 13-speaker audio system from AKG, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot – making the 2024 XT4 one of the first GM vehicles to gain 5G connectivity.
Photos have leaked online showing that the 2024 XT4 will receive the top-rated GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system.
Powering the small luxury crossover is the same turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, which produces 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 was one of 10 GM models among North American Car of the Year candidates, competing with six of those in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year category.

Even with the XT4 getting updated, Cadillac continues to focus heavily on electric vehicles.
The Cadillac Lyriq, as the luxury marque’s first-ever EV, is the all-electric replacement for the aging Cadillac XT5.
The first-ever all-electric Cadillac Optiq was revealed this past November and caught in the wild in December. It is Cadillac’s entry-level EV, poised to eventually replace the XT4. In April, the Optiq will launch in China.
These two models precede the recently announced first-ever 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, an all-electric three-row crossover spotted on the road in February that is set to round out the EV portfolio, slotting in the same space now occupied by the XT6.
The first-ever Cadillac Escalade IQ, a full-sizer, will sit above the Vistiq.
Furthermore, a Cadillac V-Series EV is set to debut this year, likely as the Cadillac Lyriq-V. Most recently, the luxury marque teased the Opulent Velocity concept vehicle as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Cadillac V-Series sub-brand.

Notably, all of Cadillac’s gasoline-powered crossovers struggle in their respective segments in terms of sales volume. Despite GM’s mainstream subcompact crossovers seeing great success, crossover models from Chevy, GMC, and Buick all remain competitive. It remains to be seen if Cadillac can compete better in the marketplace with its lineup of electric models.

Wife wants to upgrade from her 2020 Equinox to a 2024 XT4 but inventory is limited in N MS & it doesn’t help that the Cadillac dealer in Tupelo, MS gave up its franchise after decades rather than pay big $ to prepare to sell EV. The closest dealers are now to 2 to 4 hours away. These vehicles also seem to be overpriced with the majority premium luxury instead of the luxury models. The $750 discount from MSRP is a joke also.
Who wants to buy overpriced ICE vehicles from a brand intending to not build ICE vehicles?
The same people contributing to the shortage of their ICE models and a surplus of even more overpriced EVs nobody wants? Because who wants to spend $15K more for the EV replacement of an ICE?

Beautiful refresh inside and out but no hybrid version! The PHEV version can't get here fast enough!
I just bought a brand new 23 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring PHEV in December. I would have bought the XT4, but I didn't because of two reasons. It didn't have Super Cruise, and there was no hybrid version. I wanted an SUV that got over 30 mpg in the city, and could tow at least 3000 pounds, with ADAS. The Corsair with BlueCruise meets all of my criteria. I would have preferred the Cadillac though.
I encourage new SUV shoppers to give the XT4 serious consideration. My wife and I purchased a 2024 XT4 AWD Sport in February and we love it as the vehicle has surpassed our expectations. The redesign did wonders for this vehicle and it truly feels like a Cadillac now. The 2.0T delivers all the power needed to be confident in every type of driving. It's a refined, polished and sophisticated vehicle that stands up quite well to the competition.
Why post this regarding data from last year? It’s almost the end of Q1 2024. And since it’s so old, I’m unsure whether any of the newly refreshed versions of the vehicle are included in these sales numbers. I would think that would be important to know when evaluating this data by your readers.
The Lyriq at that price doesn't replace the XT5. Its a whopping $15k more for less convenience and less range per refueling just because battery powered. The Blazer EV pretty much replaces the XT5 at this price. And even the Blazer is more expensive than the XT5 which starts at $43K.
GM must have little to no interest in generating sales for this vehicle since it's an ICE. Likewise the Malibu. Both are built at the Fairfax KC KS plant. Given the sales of each of these vehicles this plant must be running at 25% of capacity. Sad story there. GM wanting to phase these out so they can convert Fairfax to EVs. Sigh.
Personally I think the XT4 is the best looking compact SUV in the market and it has the sweet 2.0 turbo engine that I wish I could have gotten in my Terrain Denali. If Cadillac would have had some decent lease pricing last year I would be driving one of these instead of my GMC.
Of course sales are down. Nobody wants to buy an outdated, overpriced and poor build quality caddy.
One reason it might be having slower sales than the competition is that it's too wide at 77 inches! We just bought a car in this segment and didn't even consider the Cadillac because of this. A lot of people who buy cars like this live in highly populated areas where the garages are tight and the parking lots are even tighter. I remember when we lived in California it was bad trying to wedge the old Aztek into the garage and parking spots and it was much narrower than the XT4. Every other car on that list is significantly narrower.
We checked out several of the cars listed above before deciding on an Audi Q3, which is a full 4 inches narrower than the XT4! My wife says it's a dream to park and I agree.
