In most recent edition of J.D. Power’s U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, Cadillac was ranked twelfth overall, indicating that consumers feel as though their Caddy was middling in regard to dependability.
According to the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, Cadillac was given a score of 196 PP100 – or problems per 100 vehicles. This places the luxury marque between Jeep and Hyundai, which earned rankings of 190 PP100 and 198 PP100, respectively, and below luxury brands Porsche and BMW. Meanwhile, Lexus was ranked first overall with a PP100 score of 135.
It’s worth noting that the study’s average score was 190 PP100, with Chrysler ranking dead last with a PP100 score of 310. In regard to individual nameplates, the Cadillac XT4 stood out as the most dependable vehicle in the compact premium SUV category.
“Historically, VDS model results mirror the results of the respective model year in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, so a deterioration of vehicle dependability is unusual,” J.D. Power Auto Benchmarking Senior Director Frank Hanley claimed in a prepared statement. “This can likely be attributed to the tumultuous time during which these vehicles were built, and owners are keeping their vehicles for much longer. In fact, the average age of vehicles on American roads today is approximately 12 years, which underscores the importance of building a vehicle designed to stand the test of time. Automakers must ensure new vehicle technology introduced today will still meet the customer’s needs years down the road.”
Notably, these results tie with Cadillac’s 2023 results, where the luxury marque was also ranked twelfth overall, but with a PP100 score of 173.
There were several key findings in the study, including:
- Infotainment system woes continue to plague owners, as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity had a 6.3 PP100, while built-in voice recognition had a 6.1 PP100.
- Annoyance with driver assistance alerts grows over time, as driver assistance system-related problems have increased between the 90-day ownership period and the three-year ownership period.
- Electrified vehicles are more problematic than others, as EVs had 256 PP100 as compared to ICE-powered vehicles with a 187 PP100.
- Toyota Motor Corporation wins most segment awards with nine.
- The most improved brands are Porsche with a 33 PP100 improvement, Mercedes-Benz with a 22 PP100 improvement, and Toyota with a 21 PP100 improvement.

Avoid any GM product that is touched by the UAW. Piss poor quality!!!!
GM is losing it!! What are they doing? Having 2 Cadillacs that needed major repair, One car took 5 months to get the needed part the other A CT6 has been sitting at the dealer for 8 months waiting on a transfer case. Dealer knows nothing on when part will be available if at all. Not only is quality sinking they wont even provide parts to fix them.
Even Toyota has this issue as well.
Does Toyota practice strict top secret NO information on any potential availability? 8 months nothing but silence from GM.
Yes, unfortunately. Toyota also hides issues. Look at the main bearing failures on the Tundra. No firm solution as of yet.
apparently a part for one of my GMs has been discontinued. its a suspension part that is common tear and wear. it is cross used by 4 models including cadillac.
GM discontinues it. great. awesome. amazing. now i have to spend 450$ to import if from aus where it is readily available. i wonder if the casual ATS owner will do all that…………….
ive been seeing a lot of parts going poof in the last year that make no sense
