The GM Authority Take

U.S. Cadillac sales slipped a bit on a year-over-year basis but grew during the 2023 calendar year overall. The luxury marque is the only GM brand to offer sedans for sale other than the Chevy Malibu.

Most models were in the red during the quarter, with only the full-size, regular-length Cadillac Escalade posting sales gains. It has a modest increase of less than five percent. It also posted the most deliveries, with 6,648 units sold. However, deliveries are spread somewhat evenly between models, with the subcompact Cadillac XT4 moving 1,805 units at the low end and each model averaging just 4.5K deliveries.

The luxury marque’s first-ever all-electric model, the Cadillac Lyriq compact crossover, moved 3,820 units as the new EV continues to gain sales.

Overall, 2023 calendar year sales were slightly better, but with half the models in the red.

While Cadillac continues to focus on expanding its EV portfolio, some ICE model refreshes could help sales, but that remains to be seen.

A fully refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 debuted with a new exterior design and an overhauled cabin headlined by a new 33-inch, 9K-resolution LED color touchscreen lifted straight from the Cadillac Lyriq. It also boasts new tech features, including more than a dozen safety features that are now standard.

GM is considering a second-generation Cadillac XT5 for North America after the original plan was to discontinue the nameplate and offer a next-gen XT5 exclusively in China.

The upcoming refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade, which has been delayed from the 2024 model year, will receive exterior styling revisions and feature a full-width, pillar-to-pillar infotainment display panel.

Finally, this past September, GM debuted the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5, revealing new styling and tech along with more standard safety items. CT5 trim levels (not including the V-Series models) include Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. Outside, we find new styling with an updated front fascia and a lower, wider front grille. Inside, the refreshed CT5 features an all-new curving 33-inch-diagonal LED color touchscreen with 9K resolution and a customizable user interface. In January, GM revealed the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and updated Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing to round out the lineup.

  3. I would sure like to be able to trade my 2020 CT6 Premium Luxury for a new one. I don’t like the ugly and boxy SUV’s and Crossovers. The CT4 and CT5 are not in my eyes real luxury cars as they are just too small and cramped. I remember when the look and style of your ride mattered and you took pride in your Cadillac, as it was a good looking car!!
