Chevrolet Chile Sales Fell 28 Percent In November 2023

Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 28 percent to 1,812 units in November 2023. The figures place Chevrolet as the second country’s best-selling automobile brand during the month, behind Toyota.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Chile:

During the first 11 months of the 2023 calendar year, Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 44 percent to 19,477 units.

The GM Authority Take

The not-insignificant drop in Chevrolet Chile sales during November continues to deepen the negative performance of the brand in the South American country, where it has accumulated a negative streak spanning 14 consecutive months of falling sales volumes. This performance has, in turn, resulted in the Bow Tie brand losing its local sales leadership.

With that said, the 1,812 units sold last month represents an improvement over the brand’s results in the Chilean market during prior months, which enabled it to move from fourth place in October 2023 to second place in November among the country’s best-selling auto brands.

All-new 2024 Chevy Sail

The vast majority of models offered by the Bow Tie in Chile suffered substantial double-digit drops in November, including the best-selling Chevy Groove and the popular Chevy Sail – which has rejoins the sales list thanks to the arrival of the redesigned model. In fact, the all-new 2024 Chevy Sail registered its first 236 deliveries in Chile within a few days of being launched in the country, becoming Chevrolet’s second best-seller. Deliveries of the new Sail are expected to improve even further in December, its first full month on sale.

For its part, the Chevy Silverado was the only Chevrolet nameplate whose sales were in the green last month in Chile. The full-size pickup experienced notable growth both year-over-year and month-over-month, regaining its position as the best-selling large pickup truck in the Chilean market, as well as the brand’s second most popular nameplate year-to-date. It’s also worth noting that the all-new Chevy Montana sold a modest 131 units during November, having a relatively low impact on the bottom line during the initial part of its launch.

  1. Sales in the states, for November and December, were definitely down!!! If GM had built Express cargo vans with V8’s for the commercial market instead of the money losing Brightdrop BS, it would have been a big help.

  2. I’m sure everything is down in Chile. They have had a lot of unrest here lately, global inflation doesn’t help either.
