The Audi Q3 followed in sixth with a 22 percent slide to 5,457 units, while the Cadillac XT4 (see running Cadillac XT4 sales) took seventh as sales slipped nine percent to 5,300 units. Finally, BMW’s second entry, the X2, finished last with a 95 percent drop to just 35 units, since X2 production has ceased as the Bavarian automaker brings the all-new, second-generation 2024 BMW X2 to market.

The GM Authority Take
Cadillac XT4 sales fell during Q3 2023, a rather surprising development given the introduction of the refreshed 2024 model. We posit that the dip was due to subpar inventory as the updated XT4 didn’t reach dealers in sufficient quantities to get figures into the green.
In prior quarters, XT4 sales were up as a result of improved inventory thanks to a resumption in production following extended assembly downtime due to supply chain constraints. It would seem that these issues remain, as Cadillac’s new vehicle inventory stood at 46 days supply in September. A 60-day supply is considered optimal in the U.S. auto industry by many automotive sales organizations such as the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA). For reference, a 60-day inventory level means that dealerships have enough inventory on hand to sustain sales volume for roughly the next 60 days.
We expect the updated XT4 to draw higher levels of interest and resulting sales volume as availability improves. The biggest limiting factor to further sales gains is production, especially in light of the 2023 GM-UAW labor negotiations that dominated October. In September, the UAW strike prompted GM to idle Chevy Malibu, Cadillac XT4 production. At the end of October, GM and the UAW reached a tentative contract agreement, which was subsequently ratified by the UAW’s GM council.
About Cadillac XT4
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 arrives as the fifth model year of the first-generation small luxury crossover, introducing minor changes over the 2022 Cadillac XT4. The XT4 continues to offer a single powertrain, namely the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The boosted four continues to be mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission for both standard front-wheel- and optional all-wheel-drive configurations.
Meanwhile, the refreshed 2024Â Cadillac XT4 features an updated exterior, a new cockpit, and new tech features. The trim level lineup once again lists out as Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport, each featuring its own unique accents and available in front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations.
The changes start with a new front and rear ends, the former of which incorporates an updated grille design and new LED headlights with signature vertical lighting cues. The refreshed model also introduces new alloy wheel designs, including 18-inch and 20-inch options, plus three new exterior colors.
Inside, we find an overhauled cabin headlined by a new 33-inch, 9K-resolution LED color touchscreen lifted straight from the Cadillac Lyriq. The 2024 Cadillac XT4 also offers a 13-speaker audio system from AKG, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto capability, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot – making the 2024 XT4 one of the first GM vehicles to gain 5G connectivity.
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 is able to accommodate these features thanks to the the GM Global B electronic architecture, which should theoretically support the expanded version of the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driver assist system. Interestingly, GM has yet to announce the feature for the refreshed XT4, despite testing prototypes.
Under the hood, the refreshed 2024 XT4 carries over the LSY engine and nine-speed automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 was one of 10 GM models among North American Car of the Year candidates, competing with six of those in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year category.

the updates to the interior and front end should greatly help the xt4 in sales, the only downside is still the gremblin rear quarters that reduced trunk space, much smaller than lincolin and visually looks awkward
