Overall GM crossover utility sales with internal combustion engines grew 34 percent to 256,652 units during the third quarter of 2023, with the Equinox continuing to lead as The General’s best seller. It was followed by the Trax, Traverse, and Trailblazer in second, third, and fourth, respectively.

Including the Bow Tie brand’s two all-electric utilities currently on sale, the Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, would push GM subcompact crossover deliveries to nearly 114K, or 44 percent of overall GM crossover sales, with Bolt family sales approaching those of the Encore GX.

Overall, GM’s small crossovers continue to sell in high volumes, especially as sales of the all-new Trax – which now has its own dedicated assembly plant – and first-ever Envista take off, while the refreshed Trailblazer and Encore GX continue to earn high volumes.

About Chevrolet Trax

GM debuted the next-generation 2024 Chevy Trax last October as the Bow Tie’s new entry-level crossover. Outside, the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates the Bow Tie brand’s latest design language for internal combustion-powered models, taking after the Chevy Blazer crossover. The new Trax is longer, lower, and wider than the preceding model. Up front is a set of LED headlamps, configured within a dual-level cluster. Five trim levels are on offer – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ; each include their own unique styling bits, from wheels to grille treatments. Furthermore, the 2024 Chevy Trax offers a new Blackout Package.

About Chevrolet Trailblazer

In February GM revealed the refreshed 2024 Chevy Trailblazer, showing off slightly updated styling, an overhauled cockpit, new standard features, and other changes for the small crossover, which was originally introduced for the 2021 model year. The 2024 Trailblazer also introduces two new exterior paint colors, Cacti Green and Copper Harbor Metallic, along with a new interior colorway, Jet Black/Artemis Accent.

About Buick Encore GX

A refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX has arrived, incorporating fresh styling cues and big updates inside. It also debuts a new Sport Touring (ST) trim level and a range-topping Avenir trim, available for the first time ever on the Encore GX, while dropping the Select and Essence trims.

About Buick Envista

In April GM debuted the first-ever 2024 Buick Envista for the U.S. market as the Tri-Shield brand’s all-new entry-level crossover. As GM’s first crossover coupe, the Buick Envista incorporates the premium marque’s latest design language originally introduced by the Buick Wildcat EV concept. Highlights include a long wheelbase, a crossover coupe roofline, and a sleek profile. LED checkmark lamps are placed high in the fascia.

Three distinct trim levels are offered, including Preferred, Sport Touring, and range-topping Avenir. ST trim levels are equipped with all-black 18-inch wheels as standard, with 19-inch wheels optional. Meanwhile, the Avenir trim level comes with Pearl Nickel 19-inch wheels as standard.

The Envista indirectly replaces the discontinued Encore.

  1. Either the Trax and Trailblazer are stealing sales from the Equinox, which is suspect, or GM has had problems producing/transporting the Nox, but they need to fix it since the Nox is in the biggest CUV segment.

    1. I believe it may be the styling, the equinox has had refreshes but no redesigns recently.

  2. It has been noted previously that:
The NG ICE Equinox is coming in 2025 (some spy photos have been shown) and lately there has been logistics issues worldwide, including rail and road carriers.
One article that came a couple of weeks ago, if I am not mistaken, noted that GM is paying the dealerships to pick up the vehicles at the distribution centers.

  3. I also notice that you can now build a 2024 Encore GX Preferred Trim level with the Comfort Package, Advanced Technology Package, along with the Power Liftgate and even with the 1.3L and AWD pricing on this is $32,035. That is for one I found in stock. And with the Technology Package you also get Adaptive Cruise Control and HD Surround Vision. There were no exclusions on the window sticker that I reviewed so everything is installed.
