The 2025 Cadillac XT4 offers only a few changes from the refreshed 2024 model, though one of these updates – removal of the entry-level Premier trim and resulting reduction of the trim level lineup to two trims, Premium Luxury and Sport – is significant. Bearing this change in mind, we’re looking closely at the 2025 Cadillac XT4’s towing capacities.
Before getting to the details, here is a look at the drivetrain the XT4 relies on for towing power. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 235 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm is the standard, and only, powerplant on offer for the year. The GM 9-speed automatic transmission sends motivation to the wheels, while FWD and AWD are both available.
The 2025 Cadillac XT4 can be optioned with the Trailering Package (RPO code V92) to enhance towing, which consists of a two-inch hitch receiver, a seven-wire harness and a heavy-duty cooling system. Axle ratio for the crossover model is 3.47.
With these preliminary details laid out, here are the 2025 Cadillac XT4 towing capacities:
2025 Cadillac XT4 Towing Capacities
1. Optional Trailering Package (RPO code V92) Model Drivetrain Turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY Axle Ratio Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) Premium Luxury FWD 3.47 2,000 / 907 Premium Luxury with V921 FWD 3.47 2,750 / 1,247 Premium Luxury AWD 3.47 2,000 / 907 Premium Luxury with V921 AWD 3.47 2,750 / 1,247 Sport FWD 3.47 2,000 / 907 Sport with V921 FWD 3.47 3,500 / 1,588 Sport AWD 3.47 2,000 / 907 Sport with V921 AWD 3.47 3,500 / 1,588
These capacities are precisely the same as those for the 2024 Cadillac XT4 other than the absence of the Luxury trim level. Maximum towing capacity is 2,000 pounds without the Trailering Package. With the package equipped, towing rises to 2,750 pounds for the Premium Luxury trim and 3,500 pounds for the XT4 Sport.
The 2025 Cadillac XT4 user manual offers comprehensive suggestions on safe and effective towing. During the first 500-mile break-in period, a new XT4 should not be used for towing at all. Thereafter, the next 500 miles of driving while towing should be at 50 miles per hour or less, while avoiding fast starts. The vehicle should be fueled with 89 octane or higher gasoline.
GM also recommends shutting off or deactivating the following features for best towing results:
- Park Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Lane Change Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
Pricing for the 2025 Cadillac XT4 starts at $41,990 for the Premium Luxury with FWD and climbs to $45,290 starting MSRP for the range-topping Sport trim. Both prices incorporate a $1,195 destination freight charge. The model’s online configurator is live.
The 2025 XT4 no longer gets two safety features, namely Automatic Speed Limit Assist (RPO code ISA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (RPO code UVX). The model itself will be permanently discontinued when 2025MY crossovers cease production in January 2025.
The XT4 rides on the GM E2 platform. The final month of production continues to take place at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City.

So the point of the entire article is pretty much moot…no?
