The GM Authority Take
U.S. Chevrolet sales were flat year-over-year, with more models in the red than not. However, the 2023 calendar year showed positive gains overall.
Regardless of the reporting period, the all-new Chevrolet Trax showed exceptional gains, while the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Chevrolet Traverse fared quite well in 2023 but faltered during the final quarter.
During the quarter and full calendar year, the Chevrolet Silverado lineup continued to lead the way, far outshining any other model in the Bow Tie brand’s stable. The full-size truck line accounts for nearly a third of all Chevy sales.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Equinox remains the Bow Tie brand’s best-selling utility, placing behind the Silverado during the quarter and the year. The popular Trax followed the Equinox in third place during Q4 2023 as sales continued to skyrocket, though the Chevrolet Malibu, the sole Chevy sedan left, saw the steepest decline.
Sales of the Bolt family, consisting of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Bolt EUV, were down this quarter, though up for the calendar year. The EVs were joined by two new entries, the Chevrolet Blazer EV midsize crossover and the Chevrolet Silverado EV full-size light-duty pickup truck. Both recently went on sale, moving under 500 units each during the fourth quarter of 2023.
And while Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV production is officially over, a next-generation Chevy Bolt is on the way to continue as an affordable entry in the Bow Tie brand’s EV lineup.
Sales of the Chevrolet Colorado suffered during this quarter and the entire year despite introducing a next-generation model. The slow rollout of the award-winning midsize pickup truck for the 2023 model year may be a contributing factor – an issue that continues for the 2024 model year.
The Chevrolet Express also faltered during the quarter and year overall, likely due to its more modern competition. Tracing its roots to the 1990s, it is the oldest GM vehicle currently in production.

Comments
Too many quality problems, I’ll wait.
How about bringing back some of the best selling colors GM use to put out. I looked at the 2024-2025 Equinox yesterday as well as the 2024 Blazers and I’ll keep what I have. Plain ol’ Black.
The Red Radiant Tint coat has ran it’s course, the Reef Metallic belongs in the bottom of an ocean, the Nitro Yellow on the Blazer looks like it needs a Taxi sign on it and don’t get me started on the Red Hot or RipTide Blue. Those two are horrid.
