The GM Authority Take
GM Mexico sales experienced another notable and significant double-digit increase in October, adding almost 3,000 units to the monthly sales volume on a year-over-year basis. The performance represents the ninth consecutive month of growth in the Mexican market thanks to an updated product portfolio, along with an effective marketing strategy in improving performance in high-volume segments to combat Nissan for the title of Mexico’s best-selling automaker.
Once again, the primary driver of the strong growth experienced by GM Mexico in October was the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo. The popular subcompact car experienced a drastic three-digit increase totaling over 4,100 additional units compared to the same month during the previous year, fortifying the nameplate’s position as GM’s best-selling vehicle, and the second most popular in the Mexican market.
The large increases in the full-size pickup line are also worth highlighting, with drastic three- and four-digit increases for the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, respectively.
In addition, the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax saw healthy sales levels with the highest growth rate across GM’s local portfolio. The Trax is positioned differently in the Mexican market compared to that in the United States, Canada and South Korea, where it is offered as a more premium compact model as opposed to the smaller and more affordable Groove and Tracker.
By contrast, most other GM crossovers and SUVs suffered declines in October.
