The GM Authority Take
U.S. Buick sales posted a very strong increase on a year-over-year basis. The Buick Envision saw the highest levels of growth, with a 98.8 percent increase to 13,486 deliveries, making Q2 2023 the second consecutive quarter that the compact crossover was Buick’s fastest-growing nameplate.
The Buick Encore GX also posted an impressive increase of 98.6 percent to 18,055 units sold, putting it just behind the Envision in terms of growth rates. However, the subcompact crossover was the most popular Buick model during this quarter, selling over 4,000 units more than the Envision. This jump is likely related to the launch of the refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX, which began arriving at U.S. showrooms in April.
Rounding out the three gainers was the Buick Enclave, which saw sales jump 16 percent to 9,126 deliveries.
The Buick Encore was the only Tri-Shield vehicle that posted a decrease in sales, falling almost 60 percent to 2,085 units. This should come as no surprise, as the “non-GX” Encore has been discontinued and production has long ended, meaning that any sales are the result of remaining units in inventory. Looking ahead, the Encore will be replaced by the all-new Buick Envista, a coupe-like crossover that will create a new segment.
We expect Buick sales to continue to grow following the launch of the aforementioned Envista, supported by the ongoing launch of the refreshed 2024 Encore GX and 2024 Buick Envision. After that, Buick will complete updating its portfolio with the next-gen Enclave, which will be replaced by an all-new model for the 2025 model year, as exclusively reported by GM Authority.

Our 18 year old had a jeep Compass Trailhawk 4 x 4 and we just bought her a 23′ Envision. It is a perfect vehicle for her and the inside is surprisingly upscale for the price range. It’s a GREAT little car.
Lucky girl! My dad chipped in $400 on my first car, a 67 Mustang in 75.
My dad bought me a 1972 super beetle in 1992.
No a/c in florida was not fun.
GM must earn good profits from Buick with Envision making Chinese production lines slightly more efficient and the rest of the line up being so closely aligned with Chevrolet models.
160,000 units each year in the US isn’t great but Buick only has four models with one of which being eliminated.
Buick as a premium brand is an ackward fit with Envista and even Encore but Envision is definitely able to compete with rivals in the luxury space
In the past, Buick offered similar models such as the Skylark and Verano. Premium at an affordable price.
As much as I miss Buick sedans, its good to see GM revising Buick to compete in TODAY’S market. The new offerings are attractive and seem competitive. GM seems intent on trying to rebuild Buick by offering vehicles that will meet the needs of todays prospects and it is good to finally start to see the corporate commitment . As much as many on this site decry the fact that they can’t replace their Lacrosse or Regal with a 2024 edition of the same thing: sorry, times change. Add those cars to the pile of stuff behind the house that includes your old rotary phone and your Commodore computer. Or, if that’s what you really want – go find a clean used one with low miles and drive happy. They are out there. Buick has to start attracting prospects that will potentially buy many new cars into the future if the brand is to survive. That’s just marketing 101. Now, all you old cranks get off my lawn!
I feel that GM needs to Kill off the Buick line of Chinese made products and focus all the money they spend on the tri-level product line of Entry – Chevrolet, Mid – GMC and Luxury – Cadillac.
Let China have Buick and streamline the marketing and product lines since Buick and GMC have competing products on the same lot as pretty much all GMC and Buick dealerships have merged into a single dealership.
Time to let go of the past and move forward with a streamlined better product portfolio made in North America.
