Here Is The 2024 Buick Envista

General Motors has officially unveiled the 2024 Buick Envista set for sale in the U.S. market, offering a new, small, premium crossover at a more affordable price point. The Buick Envista made its world debut at the 2022 Chengdu Motor Show in China last August. GM Authority exclusively reported that the Buick Envista was under consideration for the North American market last October, while GM President Mark Reuss confirmed that the crossover would be sold stateside later that year.

The front end of the 2024 Buick Envista.

The 2024 Buick Envista incorporates the latest Buick design language originally introduced by the Buick Wildcat EV concept. Highlights include a long wheelbase, a crossover coupe roofline, and a sleek profile. LED checkmark lamps are placed high in the fascia.

Three distinct trim levels will be offered, including Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and the range-topping Avenir. ST trim levels are equipped with all-black 18-inch wheels as standard, with 19-inch wheels optional. Meanwhile, Avenir trim levels are equipped with Pearl Nickel 19-inch wheels as standard.

GM claims that the Buick Envista offers the riding dynamics of a sedan. Additionally, there’s more legroom than in any small Buick crossover model prior. The cabin incorporates 19 diagonal inches of combined LCD screens, including an 11-inch diagonal infotainment screen. Avenir and ST logos are embroidered in the headrests for each respective trim level. A flat-bottom steering wheel is standard across the range.

The Buick driver confidence package is also standard, and includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, and more. Further safety and driver assist technologies are optional.

In terms of available cargo space, the 2024 Buick Envista offers 20.7 cubic-feet of room behind the rear seat and 42 cubic-feet of room with the rear seats folded down. Under the hood, the 2024 Buick Envista is equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which produces a maximum of 136 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

Pricing for the new 2024 Buick Envista starts at $23,495. Orders open up later this summer.

  1. So generic/cheap looking. Designed for China, made in China! Buick is doomed!

    3. I’m no Buick fan, but for sub $25k, this is a solid entrant in this market and it actually might sell well. Buick as a brand has languished for years. I think its mission is to be between Chevy and Cadillac in the US, but with Cadillac a shell of its former self (and also confused), its best to just produce basic transportation with moderate styling at a reasonable price point. The days of Buick commanding a premium are long gone. Not many under 65 will consider this, but those with aging LeSabre/LaCrosse/Encores might find this appealing.

  2. I feel like something is missing from the rear, but overall I think the styling is attractive.

  3. The price is attractive, but in order for GM to accomplish this, they had to install an anemic slug of an engine in this thing. My DD is a 2017 Cruze RS and it has 20 more horsepower and trust me, it is no rocket ship. I’m wondering how much the higher trim levels will cost.

    To each their own.

    1. Another way GM kept the cost down is to only make the Envista in FWD. That alone is a big “no sale” for me.

      1. I understand the appeal of AWD for some, but we have an AWD Buick Envision (It normally is in FWD mode but you can select AWD). We live near Buffalo NY and through some pretty bad snow storms/road conditions, I not once in 2+ years felt the need to put it into AWD mode.
Now, we don’t live anywhere near any hills or drive up and down elevation changes, but even on slick/snowy roads, the FWD always gives use enough traction (so far).

  4. I fell like this a a miss for gm. They could have added AWD and could have charged 5000 dollars more and people would have payed. It is a really nice looking vehicle and i think it will preform really well for Buick and can hopefully attract young buyers.

  5. I automatically never liked this because this IS NOT what buick needs. there is nothing “premium” about this or the other small, underpowered garbage buick has in its lineup (besides from the archaic enclave in terms of power). gm keeps making these small 3 cyl / 4 cyl garbage because it is easy for them to produce and the interior is going to have cheap materials.

  6. None of you have seen this vehicle nor driven it, but you seem to be ready to condemn it. I am looking forward to it in Avenir trim.

I hope that you all have the same complaints for the Chevrolet Trax, which will also be imported from South Korea. It’s so cheap and generic-looking and underpowered and no AWD! Oh my, Chevrolet is doomed LOL

    1. Newsflash, everyone will not share the same opinions as you. If you are waiting for this to happen, you are going to lead a very angry and miserable life. With this being said, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that 136hp is both anemic and underpowered. On top of this, if somebody wants an AWD CUV, they will know that this will not fit the bill as it is only offered in FWD. It’s not tough to comprehend.

      Reply
      1. So then don’t buy it!

        Reply
      2. If they want AWD or more power that’s why they have the Encore GX. Otherwise they would overlap too much.

        Reply
        1. The engine in this new Envista is considerably smaller than the 1.5-liter turbo powering China’s version that was rated for an additional 45 horses. According to Buick’s engineers, this 1.2L is a lighter and more efficient version than previous iterations of the engine which will help with power output and efficiency.

      3. Infamous: Not everyone wants or needs high HP! Not all of us want to blast down the road like a lunatic. And while I’m at it, not all of us need or want AWD.

136 HP is very good for this size car/thing. If you want AWD and lots more power, go buy a Blazer.

        1. Where did I say that I want a high horsepower CUV to blast around town like a lunatic? At 42, I leave that kind of nonsense to a portion of young people that have no regard for the law or safety. Even when driving my Gen 5 Camaro SS or C7 GS, I don’t hammer on them while on public roads. I take them to the track (road courses are where it’s at). Again, 136hp is anemic at best. For the last time, not everyone will agree with your opinion. If you want to buy a 136hp, FWD CUV, by all means, go for it. I respect your decision. As several others have said on here, it seems to be underpowered and many people want to have the option of AWD. Cheers.

          Reply
          1. I don’t know just how anyone else would take your comments about it being “anemic” and “underpowered” and “slug”. Sounds to me like you want to have something with way more power. What do you feel that need for more power is for? Driving slower? You’re contradicting yourself.

Again, not everyone wants the higher HP. This vehicle will sell more based on looks, refinement, interior materials and being slightly up-scale. And most of all, it will sell if the price is right and it seems to be. So if you want more power, go buy something else. Oh wait, you already did.

            Reply
            1. well if you take into consideration that not everywhere is flat and not everywhere has a posted 50 mph highway speed the you will start to realize that 136 hp is bad. i’d like to see how this performs in the Adirondack mountains were the speed limit is posted at 65 (and it might change if the speed limit is increased) with at least 3 people inside. i’d predict absolute garbage passing power especially going uphill. and the interior materials is a joke. the only thing that this thing can say it has is mpg, which the competition likely also has. so in reality this thing is a turd.

            2. @ Dan B

Power isn’t always about speed. I am speaking about merging onto a highway or passing power when an 18-wheeler is bearing down on you. Understand? Like I said above, my ’17 Cruse RS has 153hp and weighs ~300lbs. less than this Buick. Again, if you feel as if 136hp in a CUV is “very good” (as you previously stated), that is certainly your right. It is after all, subjective. Many people will agree; however, that 136hp is very poor in a vehicle of this size. I’m going to go ahead and bow out. I don’t use the internet to bicker and pick fights. It is both immature and beyond bush-league. If you and Christopher believe this Buick has solid power and will; therefore, sell in respectable numbers, I certainly respect your opinion. Enjoy the rest of your week.

          2. If they want AWD, GM offers about 500 other SUV options. You really have to look at this and the Trax as the replacements for the Cruze and the Verano. People like SUV body styles now so your compact cars have now become compact SUV’s. Yes, you still have your Civic, Carolla, Sentra, etc, but even their numbers are starting to dwindle. And the 136 HP isn’t the number you should be looking at… it’s the 162 lb-ft of torque. In a vehicle this size and weight, that’ll play. It’s not a drag racer, but will definitely satisfy the target market.

            Reply
        2. There is a wide open area in between this and high HP. Buick doesn’t make one vehicle with high HP.

What he is probably saying and what I am saying, this is a turd with 136hp and a 6 speed auto. Think dangerous to try and merge slow. I couldn’t imagine 136hp in this let alone with 4 adults. I haven’t seen suck low HP ratings since the 80’s.

It needed 180-190hp base. A sport model could be in the mid 200’s. Neither would be fast, but they wouldn’t be the joke of a 1.2L this has.

Buick is just a waste of space these days. They can’t get anything right.

            Reply
            1. And just look at how expensive that Hornet will be! Just a base a** Hornet will be the price of the Avenir here. Just because they are similar in size doesn’t make it a logical comparison. Not only that, but the interior on this will be miles nicer than the Hornet.

        3. Good point! I own my second Spark already and I’m happy with my 98 HP. Yeah, people can live with that when they don’t fall for marketing scams like SUV !

          1. Mathieu Cossette: I’ve had several Sparks and like them. Especially the 2020 I had. That 1.4 L non-turbo was quiet and smooth and I never felt it was under-powered. I also had a 2021 Malibu with the 1.5L turbo and loved it. Again, very quiet, smooth and very good performance. In those cars I’ve never felt even once that they needed more power.

            Reply
            1. I understand and agree it doesn’t need to be fast. But it does need to have acceptable acceleration. I would consider acceptable, but a little sluggish acceleration to be able to go from 0-60 in 8.xx seconds.

This will most likely take over 10 seconds. There are very few cars this slow in 2023. Malibu 1.5t is around 8.0.

  7. I checked out the actual video released on YouTube, and I love the Avenir trim because it feels like a sedan or hatchback thanks to its body color cladding. This vehicle certainly looks premium, and even the price is good. The only drawback of the vehicle is the 1.2L I3 LIH engine at 136hp. They need to be equipped with the Encore GX’s 1.3L I3 L3T, which provides at least a stronger 155hp for the vehicle.

  10. I’m looking forward to seeing this one only in the Avenir trim. I still can’t figure it out, but as much as I dislike the refreshed Encore, this one looks so much better. Still not a huge fan of the front design/theme, but it’s much nicer.

I feel this is smart for them to try and keep the price down by offering only the 1.2 and front drive. It would be better for Buick to concentrate on being more premium in look and features/materials in order to (try) get more buyers back.

Lastly, Buick should market this NOT as a “crossover” or SUV, but as a high-riding sedan/hatch. Obviously Buick is not attracting the buyers with the 3 crossovers they have now, so they need a new approach. Oh, and a true sedan would certainly help.

    Reply
    1. Agreed that Buick needs to focus on and presenting itself as a “premium” brand. The 1.2l isn’t exactly “premium”. While I understand the gm’s bean counters in keeping the cost down with the 1.2l, let Chevy handle the entry-level buyer and have Buick offer a step up to “premium”.

This Envista doesn’t seem to fit into Buick’s line-up if they want to be seen as a “premium” brand. They have the GX which covers this same sub-compact segment, the Envision for compact and Enclave for full size — all three I think do a good at offering “premium” vehicles.

The Trax/Trailblazer 2-prong approach works for Chevy, perhaps not so for Buick.

      Reply
      1. tmw: I fully understand what you are saying and I actually agree mostly. But I’m just so freeking happy to see Buick getting something that isn’t exactly like the other 3 boxes in the lineup, but just in a different size! So I’m happy that Buick is getting this higher sitting hatch/sedan like vehicle and I hope they market it as being different from the rest. Don’t forget that there are still around 3 million SEDANS being sold each year, so when all these people on here try to say that everyone wants an SUV, they are quite wrong. This vehicle is different from the Chevy Trax now (the Trax is just one more CUV and looks way too much like the Trailblazer). At least Buick is being different here.

As for the engine? Personally I’d love to see this with the 1.5L like what my 2021 Malibu had. That would be great. Or better yet, I’d love to see this Envista with the same powertrain as my Bolt. Now that would be my total target car!

  12. This is the same engine and transmission as the new trax. They should have at least offered as an option the more powerful 1.3. This car weighs more than 3000 lbs, and is larger than the Encore GX. We can expect a 0-60 approaching 10 seconds. Frustrating, since I otherwise feel this could be a success for Buick.

    Reply
  13. I think the car looks okay but the comment is right about this weight being over 1.5 tons (3000lbs). 136 HP is insufficient for a vehicle of this size..even a Civic has more HP. Pulling into a lane of traffic on a freeway may be a chore for the driver. I too expect a 0-60 time of 9-10 seconds at best….that is not good since most new cars have much faster acc rates. You also won’t be passing anyone if they are going 50. There will be no towing capability of any kind..no tow hitch options. 160HP should have been the minimal engine HP. It seems like this was designed as an EV but GM dropped the ball and had to slap an ICE into it. AWD should be an option on any vehicle built for the US roads. I have seen too many southerners driving FWD vehicles in the north during winter and getting their vehicles stuck on hills causing rush hour traffic jams.

  14. The 1.2L is a deal breaker. That anemic engine should not be offered in anything the US sells. I was really interested in this too, but I’m not going to stress about acceleration when I’m probably spending close to 30K in the highest trims. There are sub 20K cars that accelerate fast than this thing ever will

  15. I received an email from Buick earlier today about the launch of this vehicle, which described in some detail the features of the car and the trim levels. Nowhere was any mention made of the engine, almost as if they were hiding the fact that it had the 1.2.

    4. Here is a thought for you. The problem in North America is ignorance and stupidity. Here in our part of the world it is all talk and no action. In China its ” we have a great idea lets do it”. And they do. Example:
As of 2021, China had by far the longest highspeed railway network in the world with almost 40,500 kilometers of highspeed rail lines; the country was followed by Spain and Japan, both with more than 3,000 kilometers of highspeed rail each.
Why doesn t america use bullet trains?
The numbers for high-speed rail can vary anywhere from 20 to 80 million per mile. The big reason why America is behind on high-speed rail is primarily money. They don’t commit the dollars needed to build these systems, it’s really as simple as that.
China is so far ahead of the rest of the world, that we will never catch up. Politics in the US and Canada are the problem. Lots of foreigners live in China because it is a safer place to live.
Just read a good news report. A group of 13 year olds were left alone in an American city, found a rifle and tried to fire it. They shot a 12 year old girl in the abdomen. And you want more guns in your coumtry?

I’ll drive my 3 Cadillac FULL-SIZED (a 2017 & a 2020 CT6 and a 2002 DHS) sedans until they wheels fall off. My uncle worked at the Buick plant in Flint. Michigan for 35 years and another only drove Buick sedans. They would be appalled at the things that are being called Buicks today.

My issue with Buick is that it’s more premium materials and quiet ride would help Chevy compete with Honda. To create differentiation GM must dumb down Chevy but they aren’t making that much more from Buick except for the 28% sold as Avenir trim.
I get Envista is intended to introduce buyers to Buick but these drivers will never view the bv rand as a luxury player. Buick and Chevrolet are becoming like Hyundai and Kia or Peugeot and Opel
