The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT4 sales during the fourth quarter of 2021 suffered from idled production at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan, where the CT4 is produced alongside the Cadillac CT5 and Chevy Camaro. This resulted in nearly non-existent inventory at the dealer level, preventing shoppers from making a purchase.

Luckily, production finally resumed in October 2021, which is very welcome news for Cadillac’s small luxury sedan, especially the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing sedan that launched in 2021. The range-topping super sedan is in such high demand that it’s difficult to find a 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing for sale anywhere.

Meanwhile, Cadillac rivals are not standing still. In November, Honda’s luxury arm, Acura, unveiled the Integra Prototype as an upcoming CT4 rival, providing an early look at the production-ready Integra scheduled to go on sale for the 2023 model year. The sporty five-door hatch will be aimed at driving enthusiasts with its available six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, and turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC engine.

And earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz confirmed plans to discontinue the A-Class in the United States once the 2022 model year production run is complete. The small sedan was introduced in the U.S. for the 2019 model year but has already been dropped from the German luxury automaker’s lineup amid waning demand for small passenger cars. Even so, Mercedes will continue to offer the A-Class’ platform mate, the CLA-Class.

The CT4 in “regular” CT4 guise, high-performance CT4-V dress, and ultra-high-performance CT4-V Blackwing clothing remains a highly-compelling offering. With CT4 production back in full swing, we expect CT4 sales to climb during the 2022 calendar year provided that supply can be sustained.

  2. Previously there was information that the CT4 would undergo a refresh for 2023. Does anyone know if this is still planned, or has it been pushed back as a result of the production delays on the 2021 and 2022 models.

  3. You can’t find a Yukon at a Dealership, and if you do find one it is probably at a Dealership on the other side of the Country. It won’t be equipped with the options you want, as GM continually announces discounts for parts they have had to delete. If you order a new Yukon, delivery if you are lucky will arrive late in 2022, or maybe 2023.
