The GM Authority Take

GM Mexico sales saw a non-insignificant drop in December 2021, deepening the negative performance and becoming the sixth consecutive month of being in the red in the Latin market. However, the 13,532 units delivered last month represent a significant recovery from GM Mexico sales volume during previous months, resulting in a less pronounced rate of decline.

2022 Chevrolet Captiva Premier

Although the majority of models offered by GM in Mexico saw their sales volume decline in December, the month-over-month recovery in volume was supported by a healthy rise in sales volume of the best-selling Chevy Aveo, as well as the solid performance of three other Chevrolet models that approached 2,000 sales each.

2021 Chevrolet Groove

Among these is the new Chevy Captiva, whose 1,879 deliveries represent its best performance to date, positioning it as Mexico’s best-selling crossover in December.

Similarly, the new Chevy Groove set a new sales record with 1,769 deliveries, closely following the Captiva and completely dominating the country’s SUV market by quite a healthy margin.

2022 Chevrolet Onix Sedan

The third model that contributed to the improvement in GM Mexico sales volume during December was the Chevy Onix, locally locally at the GM San Luis Potosí plant. The subcompact sedan registered its best performance since last February in the Mexican market, where it has been registering nearly non-existent sales volume as a result of idled production.

  1. The sales numbers show that the love for GM T1 platform trucks is the same as here in the USA. The drop in Silverado sales I’m sure had to do with production supply issues.
