The GM Authority Take

For the sixth consecutive month, Chevrolet Colombia sales saw a not-insignificant decline in December 2021. Even so, the 4,266 units delivered during the last month made Chevrolet the best-selling automobile brand in the South American country, surpassing Renault for the first time since the beginning of 2019, when it lost local leadership to the French brand. Chevy’s achievement in December is the result of a considerable improvement in available inventory in Colombia.

The improvement in Chevrolet’s sales in December 2021 compared to previous months during the 2021 calendar year was what enabled the Bow Tie brand to finish the year in a leadership position. The results were supported by incremental growth in the Chevy Onix, which had already regained its position as Colombia’s best-selling vehicle in November. The nameplate, which includes sales of the first-generation Onix called Joy, strengthened its local lead with a notable gap over the two closest rivals, both in December and during the complete calendar year.

Chevy N300

The only Chevrolet models that managed to increase its sales volume in December was the Chevy N300, an entry-level commercial minivan imported from China, and the Commercial Truck range.
