Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)
Chevy Blazer sales saw the Bow Tie brand’s midsize crossover fall several spots from the previous quarter to 18th place in Q2 2024 when ranked by sales volume in the midsize and full-size mainstream crossover segment, a large market encompassing 23 models – or really 22 as a discontinued model will drop off in the coming sales periods. Starting this quarter, the next-generation GMC Acadia is now bigger and the same size as the all-new Chevy Traverse, with the Acadia competing as a full-size crossover like the Traverse.
Crosstown rival Jeep Grand Cherokee, comprised of the two-row Grand Cherokee and the extended-length, three-row Grand Cherokee L, moved into the top spot, moving 52,296 units in spite of a 26 percent slide in sales. From another crosstown rival, the Ford Explorer (see running Ford Explorer sales), one of two models from The Blue Oval, traded spots to take second with sales flat for 46,338 deliveries. The Honda Pilot moved into third place with a 17 percent bump to 36,232 units. The Hyundai Santa Fe, the first of four entries from Hyundai-Kia, followed with a six percent dip, moving 30,528 units. The Toyota Grand Highlander, the larger of the two crossovers from Toyota and the first of three entries from the automaker, has moved ahead of its smaller sibling for the first time since the first-ever model entered the marketplace, posting 30,246 deliveries to round out the top five. The Volkswagen Atlas saw sales increase by 30 percent, moving 29,062 units to sixth place. Sales of the Hyundai Palisade jumped 44 percent to 28,492 units for seventh, and those of the Kia Telluride were flat for 28,122 deliveries to place eighth. The Toyota Highlander took ninth with a 52 percent drop to 28,075 units. Finishing out the top 10, the Kia Sorento posted an eight percent uptick to 24,419 units.
Meanwhile, the Chevy Traverse (see running Chevy Traverse sales), one of three GM models, followed in 11th place with a 35 percent slide to 23,987 units. The Ford Edge (see running Ford Edge sales) took 14th with a 37 percent drop to 16,522 units. The Blazer (see running Chevy Blazer sales), in 18th, posted a 29 percent decline to 12,893 deliveries, and the GMC Acadia (see running GMC Acadia sales) placed 20th with a 59 percent dive in sales for 10,008 deliveries. Sales of both the Traverse and Acadia may be impacted by a generational changeover this quarter.

Eight of the 11 manufacturers represented in this space of 23 entries offer multiple models. However, some automakers with just one model in this segment sometimes outsell them. Here is the overall rank of automakers, in order:
- Hyundai Motor Group – 23 percent segment share, four models
- Toyota – 15 percent share, three models
- Stellantis – 14 percent share, three models
- Ford – 12 percent share, two models
- GM – 10 percent share, three models
- Honda – 9 percent share, two models
- VW – 6 percent share, one model
- Nissan – 5 percent share, two models
- Subaru – 3 percent share, one model
- Mazda – 3 percent share, two models
- Mitsubishi – 2 percent share, one model
Sales of midsize and full-size mainstream crossovers, comprised of models with a starting price in the vicinity of $30K, fell nine percent for 500,976 units during Q2 2024. That means Chevy Blazer sales underperformed the segment average.
The GM Authority Take
Chevy Blazer sales were down a bit, underperforming the segment average here halfway through the year, reversing a trend from the previous quarter. The midsize crossover subsequently fell several spots to place 18th among 23 entries. Even combining three models from GM, The General placed just fifth overall. The top individual contender this quarter, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, earning just a 10 percent segment share, is evidence of how crowded this space is – and it included regular-length and extended-length duo. The Hyundai Motor Group was North America’s top-selling manufacturer overall for this segment.
Notably, Chevy has quite a stable of utilities, including five unibody crossovers vying for buyers. Those models include the all-new subcompact Chevy Trax, subcompact Chevy Trailblazer, next-generation compact Chevy Equinox, the midsize Blazer, and the all-new full-size Traverse (a midsize-plus utility overall). And, of course, these are joined by the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs for a total of seven utilities for the Bow Tie brand. Buick and GMC each sell just four, and Cadillac has five, with all those including regular-length and extended-length SUVs. Moreover, the all-new Equinox is now larger, with interior dimensions rivaling the current Blazer’s. Perhaps it’s time for the Blazer to grow in order to differentiate itself again, which would include launching a next-gen model that’s overdue anyway.
But this may be a moot point as Chevy’s all-electric models, the Chevy Blazer EV and Chevy Equinox EV, arrive to eventually replace their ICE-based counterparts. Learn more about the former below.
About Chevrolet Blazer
The 2024 Chevy Blazer arrives with a few changes and updates over the refreshed 2023 Chevy Blazer. This includes standard heated front seats across the lineup and a new paint color complimented by five interior colorways.
Furthermore, 2024 Blazer Arctic Packages get expanded availability. Originally offered on the 3LT trim level for 2023, the Arctic Package 1 and 2 are now both available on the 2LT trim for 2024.
GM Authority has learned that the Chevy Blazer will not offer a new range-topping High Country trim level, though we think the automaker should.
The 2025 Chevy Blazer returns with only a handful of small changes and updates compared to the preceding 2024 model year, including the loss of these three paint colors.
For 2025, the Blazer continues to offer two engine options: the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.
About Chevrolet Blazer EV
In July 2022, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV made its official debut, ushering in the Bow Tie brand’s mass-market midsize battery-electric crossover. Headlined by a maximum GM-estimated range of 320 miles from a full charge, the Chevy Blazer EV will be available in front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive configurations, while the trim level lineup will include 2LT, RS, and Blazer EV SS, along with a Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) model for law enforcement, making it the quickest police package ever offered by Chevy.
The first two trim levels on sale are the Chevy Blazer EV 2LT AWD and RS AWD, but the upcoming RS RWD will include a higher capacity battery pack than these trim levels.
The midsize crossover rides on the GM BEV3 platform, motivated by the GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies. As for output, the Blazer EV LT AWD and RS AWD two-motor setup delivers 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, while the Blazer EV RS RWD’s single rear-mounted motor develops 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet.
Check out the horsepower and torque figures of the 2024 Blazer EV RS RWD, along with the 2LT AWD and RS AWD variants.
With the new all-electric crossover, the Bow Tie brand is even introducing a Super Sport model for the first time in a long while. The Chevy Blazer EV SS will offer a standard performance AWD propulsion configuration delivering up to 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, enabling a zero-to-60 mph time of under four seconds in the Wide Open Watts (WOW) acceleration setting. Additional performance-focused features include a specific sport-tuned chassis and Brembo front brakes.
The 2024 Blazer EV now offers a new Blackout Package and a new Black Illumination Package, both exclusively available on the 2LT trim.
The 2025 Chevy Blazer EV will offer Midnight and Sport Edition packages and gain new painted roof options but won’t offer a certain paint color.
For 2025, the 2LT trim level becomes 4LT and gets cloth seats, while the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS and Blazer EV FWD are set to arrive later in the model year. The 4LT trim level will be called just LT for consumers.

Can we get a 2026 ICE Blazer refresh, like it’s bigger brother Traverse just did, please? Current gen a little long in the tooth, thanks.
I can’t wait until the next gen with the .05 liter 1 cylinder as the only engine option…..
Or go with the Blazer EV AWD configuration of the SS with 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque,
Revvy went from “you don’t need high horsepower, high torque V8s, and high number of crashes and fatalities causing outrageous insurance bills, you silly car buyers” to “look at all of this amazing torque, horsepower, and speed these EVs make”. “You EV non-believers are idiots”.
An absolute disgrace for this nameplate and a pathetic performance in sales. Hey, gm sold 190
In Mexico, good job Roger er Mary. Nothing like building them where you sell them. I don’t know who the marketing head is but he/she can go and bring Mary with you!
How about a REAL Blazer to compete with the Wrangler and Bronco?
So YTD, Blazer US sales down about 3,855 units vs last year. While YTD Blazer EV US sales are up to 7,234.
Hmm,…wonder where the sales went to?
Why don’t you show what the numbers look like if include blazer EV sales as “blazer” sales?
Also, why aren’t any of your market segment comparison vehicles midsize crossover EVs?
It seriously needs a styling refresh, inside and out, to be more in accordance with the new Traverse and Equinox. I have to wonder if Ford’s discontinuance of the Edge and this not picking up the slack means that it might not survive much longer. Or it could be that Edges had fire sale prices and took sales away.
No surprise. Chevy bailed on the Blazer until the EV version’s orders were not sufficient enough maintain production at the shared Mexico plant. It wasn’t until May did Chevy realize they needed at least one more model year of the Blazer to serve as filler for the plant. And to date there is very little if any marketing to support the ICE Blazer. in fact a resent Chevy ad on their SUV lineup had no Blazer included. Chevy has no idea what they have in the Blazer and how it out shines all others in its segment. My RS AWD 3.6L ’25 model year is in production and will replace the ’20 model year one. Chevy in this instance has displayed their ignorance and arrogance.
Why the sales slump? Too much internal competition or problems or price? I like that you can still get the 3.6 v-6, that is a great engine, I would consider buying one to get that engine.
Because it’s ICE. If you include the Blazer EV in the sales figures, sales are up.
Go look at the data, ICE sales are pretty much down across all brands and models except a few. The growth is mostly in EV sales.
I have a 22 Blazer that replaced a 21 Buick Envision. The Blazer suspension is better than the Envision, but the Buick had a better designed interior. Both had the 2.0 4 cylinder turbo which has adequate power. The Cadillac XT5 shares the same chassis as the Blazer, while the XT4 shares platforms with the Envision. The new Acadia looks excellent. Too many similar GM crossovers chasing competitors. Making them more competitive while offering fewer choices would be better in the long run. Adequate isn’t going to cut it, GM has put more effort into the EV’s. They look promising, but ICE choices must be competitive while the transition takes place. Complacency can’t be allowed in the North American market since China sales are quickly diminishing.
Another winner from gm!
Offer it with a twin turbo 3.6L and call it an SS. Price it at $60k amd watch it fly off the dealership floors!!! It needs a “jolt” of excitement back into it!!!
