U.S. Cadillac Sales Nearly Flat With 38K Deliveries During Q2 2024

U.S. Cadillac sales were nearly flat, with 38,455 deliveries during the second quarter of 2024. Individual model sales performance was as follows:

U.S. Cadillac sales were nearly flat, down just over one percent, on a year-over-year basis, with every model in the red except for the brand’s first-ever all-electric model, the Cadillac Lyriq. This was the one bright spot among the luxury marque’s eight model lines currently on sale – though more models are on the way.

The Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV duo had sales broken out a year ago but are combined this time around. Consequently, Q1 2023 sales of 11,555 units combined compared to Q1 2024 cumulative sales of 10,069 units, showing a 12.86 percent decline year-over-year.

GM just debuted the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade, which could help sales of the luxury marque’s flagship utility going forward.

The full-size SUV duo and Lyriq compact crossover were responsible for the greatest sales volume this quarter, with the two model lines accounting for 45 percent, or nearly half, of all Cadillac deliveries.

Interestingly, this past August, GM debuted the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, the first-ever all-electric full-size SUV from the luxury marque. It may go on sale when the refreshed ICE-based model does.

Most recently, the first-ever all-electric Cadillac Optiq debuted as the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV, while the all-electric Cadillac Vistiq debuted late last year as a three-row entry.

Meanwhile, the sales volume of the subcompact Cadillac XT4 and compact Cadillac XT5 were similar this time around, with a refreshed Cadillac XT4 seemingly not boosting sales.

Sales volume of the midsize Cadillac XT6, as the brand’s largest unibody crossover, was even worse. There are officially no announced plans for an update for either the XT6 or XT5 for North America, though China did receive a refreshed version of the latter.

The Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans delivered sales volumes even lower than the utilities and posted the biggest drops year-over-year. These model lines include the sport-focused Cadillac CT4-V and high-performance Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, along with Cadillac CT5-V and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, respectively.

While the CT5 received a refresh across its lineup, the CT4 line did not.

On a related note, Cadillac is the only GM brand to offer sedans for sale other than the Bow Tie brand, which sells the Chevy Malibu.

The full-size Escalade SUV duo continues to be the sales volume leader for Cadillac, while, ironically, its first EV is now close behind. One wonders if the other upcoming all-electric models will also fare better than the ICE-based models that are struggling across the board, and the reason Cadillac has not bothered working on a refresh for some of those poorly performing models.

That includes the CT4, which moved just 1,768 units during Q2 2024, with sales down 35 percent, the worst showing among the luxury marque’s stable of offerings. The CT5 can surely take the mantle for Cadillac sedan sales, which had over twice the sales volume of its smaller sibling this quarter. Its lineup includes the record-setting CT5-V Blackwing.

  3. all due to sky high price points. An Escalade is gorgeous–but not $160k gorgeous. And I’m a Cadillac guy, but ya lost me at $100k

    1. An escalade is easily had for less than 100k. My local dealer has 16 (of 57) less than 100k msrp and they are sold at msrp. Now if you want a V slade, yes, 160.

      1. At the dealer where I got my XT5 here in North NJ you are easily paying a markup on a Slade. And I am not even talking about the V.

        1. My dealer is a pretty high volume dealer. They have not been charging markup on slades since at least Jan. But as I said, the V’s are dear, they were putting 30K on them, but I think they are down to 10. They also do a 20K on the CT5-BW. The CT4-BW I think is basically sticker. This dealer believes in the “turn” part of turn to earn.

    2. Sales are flat because they are catering to China. Offer the new updated XT5 to the American public, not just China. Sales will go up.

    1. Not sure where the Lyriq’s are going. Not in my area, and not for lack of inventory. My dealer has around 100 in stock. And yet I’ve seen one in the area, and they bought it maybe 6+ months ago. Now new slades I see several, a couple of which are V’s. I’d also say tesla’s are everywhere, and I see some Rivians, Hyundai’s and BMW I’s around my neighborhood. Frankly a bit surprised, as I think only the Rivian is as appealing as the Lyriq. And I’m thinking the tesla owners haven’t heard lonnie is tossing around 200mil to donnie.

      1. They’re popping up by me here in Bergen County NJ and general greater NYC area. But here its also a Tesla infested zone with many EV interested customers. Rivians are becoming common sights here as well as the Korean EV twins (EV6 and Ioniq5), Bolts, Mach-Es, and now Lyriqs. In just one 30 min trip to my sons swim class in Closter I spotted 3 EV9s. Unfortunately, the Cyberjunk is also starting to become a frequent sighting. I have no doubt the Optiq and Equinox EV will have success atleast where I live.

        1. I’m in Austin and infested is all you can say about teslas. Which is why I have been surprised at basically zero Lyriq adoption. I see more Rivian’s than Lyriq’s. Fortunately only one gag response cybertruck in the area. And I think they make them here. I’ve also seen some polestars which I think are attractive.

          1. I see some of the older Polestar 2s but barely any of the newer refreshed 2s and so far no 3 or 4. I think Polestar is hurting for Volvo to be considering to fully sell it to Geely. I feel like they were better off just selling as Volvos. I agree though. Atleast the 2 and the 3 I find attractive. I don’t care for the 4 much but mostly because I find the lack of a rear window to be an extremely stupid gimmick. A classic example of technology for the sake of technology.

            I see more Rivians here than Lyriqs too but Rivian also had an earlier start. But I wager when the R2 and R3 come out those will be a common sight to see.

      2. According to Autotrader, there are currently 8,676 new Lyriqs for sale nationwide. Given that they sold 7,294 last quarter, that would make for about a 100 day supply on the ground right now.

        I too have never seen one on the road.

  7. I’m sorry but their whole lineup minus the EVs and refreshed Escalade they really have nothing to offer. I tried building an XT5 online and I cant believe they axed the Platinum Package. At that point, its basically a Buick. Even Lincolns new Nautilus is looking more appealing (despite the Made in China part). And while yes their EVs may be bringing in new customers to the brand, what good will that do if you alienate your old customers that want nothing to do with them or want to wait for the technology to develop more?

  8. Lyriq is the only new model in the lineup. They’ve stopped meaningful updates to their ICE vehicles. No wonder it is the second-best selling model, far behind the last real Cadillac standing… Escalade.

    1. I’d call the update to the slade meaningful. And yes it gets most of the attention because it makes basically all the money. They do not want to lose that market that they dominate in a very profitable manner.

Took me and my dealer almost a year to receive a 2024 CT5 V, the order was placed on July 2023 and received the auto on April 2024 with no explanation for no picking up the order, and my two siblings could not make a deal at their Cadillac dealers and end up buying something else, no wonder they are in trouble.

    1. Dealers often don’t understand the rules. They think they can squeeze a few extra bucks by holding inventory that is dear with market adjustment. And then they sit and wait for a buyer. gm doesn’t like it. Enter turn to earn. It has a long tail, so those choices made by the dealer a year or two ago can haunt them. So your dealer couldn’t get a V as a result. And I’m guessing not even a BW you were trying to get. I am pretty sure I could get a V-slade or a V-BW from my dealer within a few months special order. They turn. They do market adjustments, but even with the adjustments, they tune them to stay only a week or two on the lot.

  11. Keep shoving this ev crap, cars made in China, or discontinuing models and you will see even lower sales.. How much longer will you allow Mary to ruin the company ..m.My thought of owning a updated XT5 was killed by Mary by not having it available in the US ,GOODBYE Cadillac…

  12. So much hate. Why? I’m in Chicagoland and I see plenty of lyriqs. I see tons of Escalades. Comments about “you lost me at 100,000”., means you can’t afford it anyway. Plenty of people can. All the negativity. Grow up and go somewhere else you are miserable.

  14. I’ll be very interested to see if the Lyriq has long term demand staying power or will it fade after the initial early adopter demand for this model is filled.

    It’s been a long and slow gradual roll out yet sales are still picking up so if I had to guess there appears to be a fair amount of sustained demand. What that longer term level is is the key question.

    In any case, good luck to them.

  15. I thought the Lyric would be a hot seller when I first saw it. I’m not ready for an EV yet but they were making some attractive Lyric deals in Florida.
