Chevy Blazer High Country Not Coming: Exclusive

General Motors reintroduced the Chevy Blazer nameplate for the 2019 model year, pulling the sheets on an attractive, all-new midsize crossover. Now in its sixth model year for 2024, the Chevy Blazer has shown decent sales performance in its segment over the years. Critically, GM Authority has learned that the ICE-based Chevy Blazer crossover will not offer a new range-topping High Country trim level.
Not to be confused with the all-electric Chevy Blazer EV, the ICE-based Blazer crossover was mid-pack in terms of sales in the midsize and full-size mainstream crossover segment during the third quarter of the 2023 calendar year, netting 15,515 units sold during that timeframe. With regard to sales ranking in this rather crowded vehicle segment, the Chevy Blazer was ahead of the GMC Acadia and Subaru Ascent, and behind the Toyota Grand Highlander and Dodge Durango:

That all said, one of the most glaringly obvious things currently missing from the ICE-based Blazer lineup is a range-topping High Country trim level. Typically, Chevy offers a High Country trim on its various utility vehicles and pickup trucks. However, this isn’t the case for the ICE-based Blazer.
Now, GM Authority has exclusively learned from sources familiar with the matter that a High Country trim level is not part of the product plan for the ICE-based Blazer.
As it stands, the top of the ICE-based Blazer lineup is shared by two trims, specifically the Blazer Premier and Blazer RS, both of which offers its own distinct features and persona. The Premier, for example, is offered as the more elegant and luxurious option, while the RS takes a sportier approach.
Nevertheless, we can’t help but think how enticing a Chevy Blazer High Country trim would actually be. Throw in some rich brown leather upholstery to sweeten the deal even further.
To note, Chevy has also decided not to offer an ICE-based Blazer Activ or Z71, as GM Authority was the first to report.
As a reminder, the ICE-based Blazer is available with two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine. The GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

The way that the demand and price for original body on frame Blazers has soared it is a shame that GM Management is so monolithic and one way that it is incapable of recognizing what people want, instead forcing woke EVs nobody wants
EV options are woke now? Ok 😂 Everything is woke to certain people for no reason other than to hate something specifically
The square bodies (and the Ford and Dodge clones) in particular are becoming the new muscle car in the auction circuit as Gen. X are buying up the cars that they grew up with.
High Country trim should be reserved for a REAL Blazer.
Yes, I’d pay big bucks for a luxury trim level in my macho-man, REAL Blazer.
People whi buy Range Rovers and high enforcement Grand Cherokees do it all the time
The current Blazer doesn’t justify $50,000 plus. So lackluster.
The sales figures posted within this article for the Blazer/Acadia relative to the competition greatly backs up your statement.
I just received my new Blazer LT3, It looks great and sporty but rides hard and noisy with the standard tires. I switched out the tires for Goodyear comfort drive and the ride did improve as well as the road noise, but there is no relief from the wind noise. You would think that a purchase of +$40,000 would provide you with a quiet ride.
I don’t notice any wind noise in my RS. But agree about the tires, OEM Michellins lasted 38k miles and rode horrible, changed out to GY Eagle Sports! Night and day difference!
That is because gm penny pinchers give you the cheapest tires that the OEM tire manufacturers offer them.
If you research them most came on the market 5+ years ago.
I don’t think anyone expected this to happen. If it was going to, they would’ve released it when they refreshed the Blazer.
You should consider us if you are looking for an used ABS module for sale. After receiving your online orders with the requisite details (make and model with manufacturing year), we can check inventories in the area’s junkyards. Additionally, our junkyards are located near the right type and number of airbags according to your order. It’s fascinating that you can get this at half the price of the new module.
The Premier is really what a High Country would be. No big deal here.
We just got an RS loaded up and got it for $7200 off sticker. Good vehicle for a good price considering how expensive everything is today.
We had the same Michelins on out Acadia and they are ok tires just no wear. 26,000 miles at best. Even wear but that is all. We went to Goodyear Weather Ready Assurance and they are the tire this needed.
I agree the name should have been saved for another vehicle. I think this should have been names Nomad.
Note the RS will run 14 seconds in the 1/4 mile 6 seconds 0-60 and we are getting 21 MPG around town on the V6. No bad for a non sports model.
Shouldn’t the title be:
Exclusive: Chevy Blazer High Country Not Coming to US
I can’t help but think of how much more expensive a Blazer High Country would be. I own a ’22 RS and it was over $53K, already too expensive for that vehicle. Granted, I acquired it during the height of the chip shortage, so I’m sure the price wasn’t what you can get one for now,.. Nonetheless, too expensive!
