As GM Authority has been closely following, several General Motors vehicles have received new LPO, or dealer-installed, lighting packages. Well, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is now one of these vehicles to feature such a package, which includes a few notable pieces.
Now a part of the Blazer EV’s accessories catalog, the LPO Black Illumination Package (RPO code PCL) is only offered on the 2LT trim level and includes the following content (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):
- Black nameplates (RIK)
- Black illuminated front Bow Tie emblem (R88)
- Black non-illuminated rear Bow Tie emblem (R88)
It’s worth noting that pricing details have yet to be released.
In other Chevy Blazer EV-related developments, The General released software to fix several software quality issues from which the all-electric crossover was suffering. Released via a pair of dealer bulletins, multiple vehicle modules were reprogrammed to allow for an improved customer experience, as well as optimization for future over-the-air (OTA) updates. However, this update was most notable for permitting the Detroit-based automaker to lift the stop-sale order on the 2024 Blazer EV, which had been in effect since December 2023.
In conjunction with removing the stop-sale order, GM also gave the Bow Tie brand’s midsize electric crossover a significant price reduction.
Along with software problems, the Blazer EV had also been deemed unqualified for the full $7,500 federal tax credit as of January 2024. While a few battery components in the all-electric crossover had to be resourced, General Motors plowed forward and ended up producing approximately 20,000 units total of ineligible EVs until the Cadillac Lyriq and Blazer EV regained eligibility in February 2024 and March 2024, respectively.
That being said, General Motors offered a $7,500 cash purchase incentive for electric vehicles that were unqualified for the tax credit.
