The GM Authority Take
GMC Terrain sales performance finally improved despite production-related constraints. Since no 2022 GMC Terrain units were built between June and November 2021, the compact crossover was not readily available on dealer lots. In fact, the ongoing global semiconductor microchip shortage has disrupted production of the 2022 GMC Terrain on multiple occasions, impacting both available inventory and resulting sales volume. In January 2022, production finally commenced for the 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 and Denali at the GM San Luis Potosi plant, per GM’s tiered rollout cadence for the refreshed crossover. Better yet, GM announced it will increase production of the Equinox and Terrain in Mexico.
The Terrain received a refresh for the 2022 model year consisting of new front and rear fascias, along with several minor updates to the cabin and a new trim level in the form of the Terrain AT4, a new off-road-flavored trim that will be offered exclusively with AWD. The refreshed Terrain was initially planned and announced for the 2021 model year, but difficulties stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the model to the 2022 model year.
With Terrain production ramping up for the refreshed model, we expect sales to continue improving. However, GMC’s smallest crossover still faces major competitive pressures, with the latest being rivals challenging the Terrain AT4, namely the 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro and 2023 Mazda CX-50.

Totally agree with the comment reguarding scarce of the GMC Acadia being hard to find i personal think if gm offered a 2.0 l engine more people would buy the terrain then it would make a perfect compact c u v spending mid 40s in Canadian dollars in the Denali trim and not having a 2.0 l engine makes the terrain a little under power in my opinion.Even though sales were up in the terrain segment that only because little inventory.
I have a first gen 2017 terrain. It has been absolutely fantastic. 85,000 trouble free miles. I just got the first recall, the headlights are too bright (article on this issue is on gm authority). Im not going to bother, i dont seem to get flashed very often.
