The GM Authority Take

After recording the worst performance in its contemporary history in January (with just 1,344 deliveries), Chevrolet Korea sales experienced another sharp decline in February. This new negative result becomes the Bow Tie brand’s 12th consecutive monthly sales drop in the South Korean market.

Despite being in the red, there is a bit of an upside with the February result: an uptick in sales over the previous month’s performance, as popular models at the Changwon and Bupyeong have resumed production.

Although the Chevy Trailblazer and Spark suffered significant double-digit declines in February, both vehicles improved their monthly numbers by 46.8 percent and 2,604 percent, respectively, thereby regaining volume after posting their lowest sales in January. The improvements are the result of reactivated production of the two models for the local market, resulting in an increase in inventory and, subsequently, sales. The scenario enabled the Trailblazer subcompact crossover to return to triple-digit sales volumes, remaining the brand’s best-selling model in the local market.

For their part, the Chevy Colorado and Camaro were the Bow Tie’s only two vehicles that saw increases in annual sales volume in South Korea during February 2022. The midsize pickup posted the highest growth rate, cementing its image as the only authentic American truck for sale in the South Korean market, as well as one of the most popular imported models in the country.

  1. Maybe the sales are going down because they are hearing that if you order brand new vehicles they are not being delivered in a timely manner. Our new vehicle has been done since early October and we are still waiting for it to be delivered. The fun of a new vehicle has been lost for us. We are paying for something we don’t even have. Ridiculous!
