The GM Authority Take

GM Mexico sales suffered a slight decrease of 1.11 percent in January 2022, maintaining practically the same level of sales volume compared to the same timeframe in 2021. Although the performance marks GM’s seventh consecutive decline in the Mexican market, it represents a change in the rate of decline compared to more drastic drops in recent months. This ultimately showcases an even more notable sign of recovery than what we saw in December 2021.

Chevy Aveo

Though a significant number of GM models posted drastic declines in sales volume in January 2022, this was made up by the solid performance of the best-selling Chevy Aveo along with the Bow Tie brand’s new crossovers. The popular Aveo, a subcompact sedan, consolidated its position as GM’s best-selling vehicle in Mexico, while the new Chevy Groove and Captiva contributed a total of 2,134 units to the bottom line, positioning themselves among the best-selling crossovers in the country.

Chevy Groove

It’s also worth highlighting the positive performance posted by the Cadillac and GMC brands, as well as the healthy increase in sales of ten other GM nameplates, including the full-size Chevy Silverado, Chevy Suburban, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.
