The GM Authority Take

The slight increase in GM Mexico sales in February 2022 finally puts an end to seven consecutive months of being in the red. Combined with the flat performance in January, the February results deliver a slight but healthy improvement in GM Mexico sales during the first two months of 2022.

Chevy Aveo

Even though 18 of the 29 nameplates offered by GM in Mexico suffered notable drops in February, the monthly improvement in February was achieved thanks to the impressive increase in sales of the Chevy Aveo sedan. Not only did the subcompact strengthen its position as the company’s best-selling model, but it was also Mexico’s best-selling vehicle by a considerable margin during the month. It’s also worth highlighting the excellent performance of the Chevy Tracker, which managed to become the most popular crossover in the country, a second time that the vehicle has earned the title.

GM’s line of full-size SUV range also posted strong performance during February, with significant double- and triple-digit increases posted by the Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. Only the Chevy Tahoe was in the red, likely as a result of sub-optimal availability.
