The GM Authority Take

The increase in GM Mexico sales in August fortifies the positive commercial streak of the largest manufacturer and exporter of vehicles in the Mexican automotive industry. In fact, the gains recorded in August becomes GM’s 19th consecutive monthly increase in the Mexican market as the automaker continues to increase its level of competitiveness in the Latin country.

Despite a significant drop suffered by the best-selling 2024 Chevy Aveo, GM Mexico’s increase in August was driven by a dozen models across each of the four brands. Among them are the notable double-digit increases of the Chevy Onix, Chevy Tornado Van and Chevy Captiva, which together added a substantial volume of 2,615 units year-over-year. In fact, the Onix achieved its best monthly record so far this year, consolidating its position as the Bow Tie brand’s second best-selling model.

The dramatic triple- and quadruple-digit increases posted by several models launched in recent months is also worth noting, including the Chevy Montana – the fastest-growing model ever, the refreshed Cadillac XT4 and the new Chevy Trax. Additionally, GM’s full-size pickup lineup once again posted a banner month, with the Chevy Silverado cementing its position as the nation’s best-selling full-size truck for both the month and year-to-date periods.
