The GM Authority Take
Cadillac CT5 sales were off to a good start in 2023 thanks to a resumption in production and associated improvements in inventory.
In fact, overall Cadillac new-vehicle inventory stood at just under 60 days supply in February, slightly down from just above 60 days supply in January following more than 60 days supply in December and a high of about 65 days supply in November. A 60-day supply is considered optimal in the U.S. auto industry by many automotive sales organizations such as the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA). For reference, a 60-day inventory level means that dealerships have enough inventory on hand to sustain sales volume for roughly the next 60 days.
We expect CT5 sales to continue growing as long as GM can keep production and supply in line with demand.
About Cadillac CT5
The 2023 Cadillac CT5 arrives with just a handful of changes and updates over the 2022 Cadillac CT5, including a new Driver Assist Package as standard and Bronze Accent Package on the CT5 as well as on the CT5-V. However, the 2023 CT5 loses the Diamond Sky Special Edition Package, replacing it with the new CT5 Blue Accent package.
Notable changes for the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing include a whopping $7,000 price increase and the addition of the vaunted GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system to the options list, which was previously unavailable on the Blackwing. For 2023 the CT5-V Blackwing also gets the addition of a new standard vehicle wrap as an alternative to the available enclosed shipping carrier option. Moreover, the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing also gets the new 120th Anniversary Edition to commemorate the founding of the luxury marque in 1902. The release of the special edition follows last year’s Collector Series, which stands apart from the rest of the lineup as the first 250 CT5-V Blackwing units produced.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the fastest and most track-capable car the luxury marque has ever manufactured, boasting horsepower and torque figures that would make most supercars blush while also delivering exceptional Cadillac luxury. Since its inception, the Caddy has been proving its mettle by breaking records and expectations around the world.
GM initially planned to launch a midcycle refresh for the 2024 Cadillac CT5, which would include the 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, but we recently learned that this refresh will be delayed to either the 2024.5 (interim model year) or 2025 model year.

I don’t understand why GM Authority compares CT5 sales to TLX, G70. The G70 is a smaller vehicle than the CT4, a lower class than the CT5. CT5 is compared with ES, G80 and so on here in Korea
Because they have stated several times that they aren’t competing with them… Stop being so negative all the time.
Admittedly, Cadillac went back to their odd “tweener” approach with the 4 and 5, so it’s confusing (even to me, an enthusiast!). Regardless, as Oc pointed out, the CT4 is tiny and so is the G70.
Oc, as we have stated here a bunch of times before, the segment here is the lux D segment. This is not all about the size of the vehicle, but rather where and how consumers shop.
The CT5 is on the larger (biggest?) end of its segment from a size standpoint… but the pricing matches up to all other D-segment models. G70 starts at $39,400, CT5 starts at $38,195. Had the CT6 still been in the mix, it would have competed with the G80, while physically being larger.
Senior citizens must be buying stripped 4 cylinders. Not your father’s Cadillac.
I think we should all be glad that the sales trends for Cadillac’s sedans is trending UPWARD.
See what happens when you still sell sedans. It helps with the total YTD numbers. Could mean the difference of being ahead or below a competitor brand in the sales race. However, Ford missed the concept unfortunately.
I almost can’t believe the ineptitude and shortsightedness of Ford. You would have thought they would at LEAST follow GMs lead by providing sedans at the high end of the market with Lincoln, where sales targets are more modest and the margins are higher. Ford/Lincoln is quickly losing all credibility.
I’m going to comment about the overall market sales metrics provided above, but who knew the “4-door coupe” concept was blowing the sales out of the water?! So the BMW 4-Series (I presume the “grand coupe” since the table is for 4-doors) and the A5 out-sell the 3-series and A4 respectively? And the 4-series outsells ALL other 4-door sedans? I had no idea. It doesn’t seem that way on the road. Consider me stunned.
The 4 Series line item includes all 4 Series, including the coupe, convertible and gran coupe. The same goes for the A5 line item – it includes anything A5 in its name.
The segment here is D-segment luxury cars… in order of popularity, that includes mostly sedans, followed by sportbacks, then coupes and then convertibles.
