The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales were in the green once again with the healthy growth in March, when the Bow Tie brand continued its upward momentum thanks to the greater local production of vehicles at the GM Alvear plant in the South American country. In fact, the increase experienced in March represents Chevrolet’s 11th consecutive monthly uptick in the Argentine market.

Once again, the locally-manufactured Chevy Tracker led Chevrolet Argentina sales during the month, solidifying its place as the brand’s best-selling model in the country – the third consecutive month that it has held this position. Not only was the subcompact crossover one of the fastest-growing vehicles in Argentina during the first quarter of the year, but it was also the country’s best-selling utility vehicle during the same timeframe. Additionally, the Chevy Onix continued to post notable volume gains thanks to increased local inventory.

By contrast, the Chevy Cruze suffered another significant volume contraction in March. The performance continues to push the Cruze further away from the Tracker into the Chevy’s second best-seller spot. However, it should be noted that the compact car saw a volume recovery in March, moving 857 units compared to 599 units sold in February.
