The GM Authority Take
After suffering two consecutive monthly contractions at the end of 2022, Chevrolet Brazil sales started the 2023 calendar year in the green, registering a strong increase in January. The Bow Tie brand regained the second best-selling position among Brazilian auto brands during the month, as most vehicles achieved substantial increases of two, three and even four digits on an annual basis.
Chevrolet’s standout models in January were the Chevy Onix and Tracker, which took first and third place in Brazil’s best-selling vehicles during, representing the first time that the Tracker subcompact crossover has managed to reach the podium. The Onix further strengthened its lead, representing nearly 60 percent of the brand’s total sales volume, while the Tracker established itself as the most popular crossover in the country. Additionally, the all-new Chevy Montana registered the first 90 units before its official launch.
Only the Chevy Cruze and TrailBlazer SUV posted lower sales in January. The declines were the result of lower availability compared to previous months. Additionally, the Chevy Equinox added incremental volume following its reintroduction in the Latin American country.
