The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Colombia sales saw another dip in February, resulting in the Bow Tie brand losing its sales volume crown in the country, one that it momentarily recovered in January. As such, last month’s poor performance represents Chevrolet’s fourth consecutive monthly decline in the Colombian auto market, which itself suffered an 18 percent year-over-year contraction.

Most of Chevy’s models in Colombia suffered significant double-digit declines in February, led by the best-selling Chevy Onix – which had the largest loss both during the month as well as year-to-date. The Onix lost 818 units during February and 1,052 during the first two months of the year, making it lose the title of Colombia’s best-selling vehicle. Despite the declines, caused by low inventory levels, Onix still maintains its leadership on a year-to-date basis 309 units.

On the other hand, sales of four Chevrolet nameplates were in the green last month, with the Chevy Tracker seeing the most success. The subcompact crossover’s solid performance in February is the result of the model’s improved inventory in Colombia, which is now supplied by production at the GM Alvear plant in Argentina. Other models also added incremental volume to Chevy’s bottom line, including nine deliveries of the recently-launched 2023 Chevy Silverado.
